Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

If Expo had its own “best of” awards given out annually, I’d definitely nominate this very entertaining and creative thread for one!

Thanks for the EXPO ELMO award!!

Here's one of my favorite fixes for your reading pleasure: Using pennies for striker plates

My lift gate catch needed a striker plate for the locking mechanism. A couple of pennies and some JB weld did the trick and they are holding up great.

My little lithium power supply doesn't work in single digit temperatures, so I can't use it to start my diesel heater in the camper. When it's this cold, I run an extension to my Cigarette lighter plug on the dash to run the diesel heater. The heater even has a remote control so I can start it from my house to warm up the truck in the morning. By the way I ran a jumper in my fuse box so that my cigarette lighter plug remains powered when the truck is off.

I may need to get one of those heaters with a remote. I have a mr buddy heater but rarely take it on trips because I have to get out of bed to turn it on. At that point I might as well just get up. Last year I camped and several days had highs in the single digits. My mr Buddy would have been nice but it was at home. A diesel heater with a remote would have been even better.

Yes, it's so nice to be in bed and use the remote to increase or decrease the temperature. I like sleeping with it a bit cold, but crank it up a bit when I'm making breakfast inside.

Here's a great sale on a Pecron power supply if you don't already have a camping power supply.

I'm thinking about upgrading my Lugalo and pee bottle to the next level. Composting or urine separating toilets seem to be the rage for tiny houses and van builds, but they cost $1000. Of course I can't spend that much and have to figure out how to do it on the cheap. There's lots of options for DIY'ers but I cam across this site that has most of the parts.

I think Joolca makes some pretty nice stuff. There is a local company selling their stuff here close to me should I ever want any of it. That toilet looks like a pretty good setup.

I’m a big fan of the tried and true porta potty using non-formaldehyde chemicals. No smells, can dump almost anywhere. Different heights and capacities available, all the way up to residential height with electric flush. We used one for years in our pop-up trailer with no bathroom and again in our minivan camper build.
