Are these cans metal or plastic? If they are plastic, how and what did you paint them with that would stick. They look great (as does the whole trailer by the way)!!I also repainted my Scepter Gas Cans... olive drab to match the new gas can caps I installed.
There are a few places to get them. McMaster Carr sells them, and there are a TON of other places in the US. There was a great place on Ebay that was selling sets of struts as well as the brackets for very reasonable prices. You could spec the length, weight and so on and they would put together a "Buy it now" package for you. If I find the blasted link I will post it for you!

Thanks Greg. I'll be interested to see how they hold up to rattling around in a jerry can holder so make sure you give us an update once they have made a trip with you somewhere.Hey there... I painted them with Krylon Fusion, the paint is designed to bond to plastic. I first used a medium scotch bright pad on them, then painted them with the Krylon. Sticks great and they are the Plastic Scepters BTW.

Several of our local guys are running his custom struts on their 101s w/ lids and RTTs. They work great... not cheap though.
I need to get my trailer out to him for a set soon.
Yeah I think that was the place...name sounds right. I have a few friends with struts made by them. I was opening and closing my lid a lot today, MAN what a PITA without the assistance of the struts. Or maybe I am just old and weak?
Hey BJ70 guy, I see that you are in the Coastal Cruisers? Do you know a guy named Chris Atfield and his wife Kim? Used to roll in an FJ40 with Zebra stripes and an old Bantam trailer with a Maggolina on it?
