Thank you for your reply :) Do you have a sorce for those gas struts? My local parts shop insists on looking them up by car! Also, where can I get the latches?

I think I need a bigger truck!
There are a few places to get them. McMaster Carr sells them, and there are a TON of other places in the US. There was a great place on Ebay that was selling sets of struts as well as the brackets for very reasonable prices. You could spec the length, weight and so on and they would put together a "Buy it now" package for you. If I find the blasted link I will post it for you!

I also repainted my Scepter Gas Cans... olive drab to match the new gas can caps I installed.

Are these cans metal or plastic? If they are plastic, how and what did you paint them with that would stick. They look great (as does the whole trailer by the way)!!

Hey there... I painted them with Krylon Fusion, the paint is designed to bond to plastic. I first used a medium scotch bright pad on them, then painted them with the Krylon. Sticks great and they are the Plastic Scepters BTW.

I am not sure that 180# will be enough for me with the Mt Hood 4 person tent up there? 200 likely and 225# would be ideal. I think McMaster Carr had stronger ones IIRC?? I cannot find the link I had for that Ebay site? Too bad, really nice people running it too. They made up special design to order "Buy it Now" deals just for you to get what you need...and they were CHEAP.

There is a place in Vancouver BC that does custom valved struts, I might just get some made.

Thanks Greg. I'll be interested to see how they hold up to rattling around in a jerry can holder so make sure you give us an update once they have made a trip with you somewhere.

Yeah, I too am interested in seeing how it holds up. I let it cure for 3 or 4 weeks and scraped on it with a screwdriver and it didnt budge, so we will see. The gas can holders I am getting are aluminum and have rubber isolators to keep the cans quiet and from rubbing too much, so hopefully it works.Should know tomorrow, picking up a can holder then. One of 3 in total.

Strutwise?

Several of our local guys are running his custom struts on their 101s w/ lids and RTTs. They work great... not cheap though.
I need to get my trailer out to him for a set soon.

Yeah I think that was the place...name sounds right. I have a few friends with struts made by them. I was opening and closing my lid a lot today, MAN what a PITA without the assistance of the struts. Or maybe I am just old and weak?

Custom Kitchen installed. Thanks Wavebreaker (Mike) for your efforts and for your time.

The best part, these are designed to fit into come aluminum "C" channel bolted into the inside of the tub and lined with some felt. They are load dividers and will help keep everything in place when I am on the trails. Will hopefully get the brackets installed tomorrow and take some pics of that process.

Next up, water tank and exterior lighting!!

Bah, with my steel lid and Technitop RTT I can't lift the lid myself. But I AM old and weak ;)

Ha ha, yeah I hear you there.

A couple of things I forgot to mention, I had to move the rear OEM tie down as it interfered with the table top. I also have to move the bottle opener to the right side of the rear so it will clear the new counter. Minor stuff, but things we didnt think of in the initial design. No biggee, a few minutes of work. I also replaced one of the De-Sta-Co latches I bodged up when drilling in the safety clip. Mike had ordered a few extras, so he had one "in stock" if you will.

Works great now!

Hey BJ70 guy, I see that you are in the Coastal Cruisers? Do you know a guy named Chris Atfield and his wife Kim? Used to roll in an FJ40 with Zebra stripes and an old Bantam trailer with a Maggolina on it?

Hmmm, not ringing any bells. How long ago would they have been around? I've been a member for close to 18 years, I think.
