A few mornings ago, I get a call from one of the local fisherman who had been out shark fishing
The call basically went like this
"Hey Pat, grab that camera of yours and meet me at the ramp! You're not gonna believe what we just pulled in!" and he hung up the phone.
I grabbed Cindy, the cameras and we drove down the street to where the fisherman load and unload their boats. (This is a different area than the public boat ramp in town and only the locals know about it)
We walked up to the boat where a group of fisherman and all the local kids had gathered to see a monster Tarpon cut in half.
This is half the fish that was on their line. They told me they were reeling in this guy, when he felt it tug really hard, then go slack. They never got to see what bit it in half, but remember that this is only half of the tarpon, and it weighed in just under 100lbs!!!:Wow1:
I couldnt get it to show the size in a photo, so I told him to hold it up for me
Once you see it next to an adult you realize how friggin' big this monster is!!
The kids were all pulling scales off of it to keep as souviners and I was amazed at how big the scales were!!
Another day in the life of the local fisherman here on the Gulf Coast.
Makes me leary of getting in the water knowing that there are sharks out there big enough to cut a Tarpon in two with one bite
