Hi-Lift Mounting options

Hee's mine on my roof rack. Kind of hard to see as it is behind shovel and under the wind deflector. It is bolted down and very solid.

As a temporary solution before the bumper gets built, mounted the HiLift on the rear frame rails.

mine allways seemed to be in the way so i spent some time building this setup on my last truck. finally decided against carrying it on my new rig since I Never really had to use it. I allways carry a bottle jack to actually jack the truck up as I feel it is a much safer option. I have yet to come to a scenario where i wasnt able to get the job done just as quickly and just as safe without it. also used it to hold my axe by placing the axe behind before tightening the hardware and then would strap my shovel on the outside (not sure where the shovel is in the first pic. And obviously two very different stages of my truck

I am currently building a rear bumper with one mounted horrizontal, but the reason I am posting this is to warn everyone not to mount there lift POINTED UP, on top of a roof rack, last weekend I was wheeling with a friend in GWNF, and to get up the long grade you had to get a certain speed, he was in his nice xj and was going about 20 when he caught the Hi-lift on a low hanging tree, I completely ripped his roof rack OFF, includeing the roof gutter that it was attached to. But just as a far warning be sure that I will not catch anything.

That's the same setup I have, it's worked well for 110,000 miles.

Admittedly not the fanciest setup, but I've been using this for years. Take a treated 2x12, cut it to fit precisely between the notches in your pickups bed, drill out a couple of holes to mount the jack with some locknuts, fender washers, and wing nuts, and you're done. I used the thick rubber coil spring "helpers" as isolators (I drilled holes in them also). On my rig, i got lucky and the notches in the bed are right behind where the container sits for the roll-up bedcover. When I close the bedcover, the jack is secure and out of the weather.

(^ reaching up between the inner and outer sheet metal to install nuts/fender washers... was a pita)

This is a 60" so it's heavy...
the weight is supported by resting on the fender well.

It is a little hassle to remove for use...
but I hope to not use it very often
