Hmmmm Me likey!!

Mudbutt, I have the stock webbing from a '97 ZJ if your interested.

Should fit the XJ 'compartment' fine.

The PO of my XJ installed a nice custom subwoofer in that spot, so I don't need the net.:snorkel:

It's yours for the cost of shipping.

(if it's removable, never really looked at it before, just have the whole panel from parting out a wrecked ZJ)

Well that's very kind of you!!! But I think I'll try and imitate what Dirty did.

Save what you've got and sell it or Karma it to someone with a ZJ......

Thanks again, that was very nice of you to offer.....

No problem! I just noticed it in the shed yesterday, while getting some other Jeep parts I sold.

I think Dirty's design will work better, if I recall correctly, the OEM ZJ one is just netting, not 'elasticy', and things would bounce and rattle.

After this weekend, I have decided that an orange light in the back window of my Jeep (like the desert racers have in Baja or Jeepspeed) is what I need. We were just cruising fire trails, but the dust was SO thick. It would make me easy to spot in the dust if you get too close in day or night.

Didn't put the ropes out to the side enouth to keep the bow out of the center but.....

The Jeep end of the tarp is screwed to 2 4' pieces of aluminum C-channel so it can fold in half and then roll up to fit in the back. The C-channel is clamped to the roof rack with squeese style hand clamps. The tent poles are WalMart specials. All total is less that $40

Love the awning Azlugs, could you possibly post a pic of how it attaches to the roof rack? I'm doing something similar with my Scrambler but am not 100% sold on how I've attached it to the Jeep and am struggling to picture your set up in my head

thanks

Also made a mini trunk in the rear of the TJ and made a locking Hi Lift mount on top of it. Around town topless or wheeling, things are locked up and secure. Unlock and swing out tire carrier, unlock tail gate. No other way to access what is in the trunk.

How did you close out (secure) the area against the seat back?

I use a Kirkham's auto canopy. ~$80 and high quality canvas-like material. A quick search will show you many tarp/tent pole home combos though!

:sombrero: If you have a TJ/JK, I'm not sure of earlier mod jeeps, but

When you put a larger set of tires on it and DON"T get a swingaway spare carrier carrier--

You need to provide GOOD bumpstops (Daystar), to hold the spare SOLID against the tailgate and--

You can use an adjustable 5/8" carriage bolt thru the bumper, to support the added weight of the heavier spare and this will ease wear on the tailgate hinges !!
