Honda Element camper cool build!

I like it.

I have always liked the Element and he did a nice job.... too bad it won't haul my Compact trailer..... for 95% of teh fun I get to have, an Element is all I would need, but I can't have a dedicated tow truck.

Thanks for posting the link. Lots of places to have a good time in a rig like this, and it's always nice to see how people configure their small spaces.

if those things had a little more offroad clearance that would be a nice reliable, relatively cheap, way to travel around comfortably.

That's a pretty cool setup for the limited amount of space. I looked at one of these when I was trying to replace my wife's car. The ground clearance was an issue for us, which is why we ultimately decided to go a different route.

Neat idea, he really put some thought into it. However, I think an Element is not that great of a vehicle for such a conversion. It gets a combined 21 mpg which is not great, it's got limited interior space, limited ground clearance etc. If it were me I think I'd look at a smaller pick-up truck, you'd get about the same mileage, better offroad performance, and more versatile platform to build on. But to each his own and I applaud his efforts.

Did u read the part where he plans to cut the roof off and make it expandable like a sportsmobile?

Presumably he knows about this thing. As a Jeep owner, it's the one Honda Element accessory I'm actually jealous of.

Put that element on an Fj's frame and it will be a bad off roader too. Element's wheelbase is 101.4 and Fj's 105.9 thats leaves 4.5 to play with either in the front or back. Lol....

Looks nice for a first attempt- definitely better than some attempts I've seen. Who cares if it's not 4wd or offroadable if it meets his needs, which it apparently does. I know there's at least one member here who uses his Element for easier trips. IIRC, there's a spacer kit to lift it an inch or so too to help with clearance. It is funny to me though how in their sig lines they list carpets kits, floor mats, etc while we list shocks, cold air intakes, winches, etc. To each his own.

I'd change out that cooler sink for a sink bowel to save space underneath and put a roof rack with awning on it. Tint the windows dark and add curtains and he could stealth camp pretty easily, something purpose built vehicles can't do well.
