How to build an 80 on a budget

CreeperSleeper

Looking for bigger rocks.
I will be the first to say that my axle may have been tweeked but I do know of a handful of people that had the same issue. You can search it out on Mud but I would just run the OEM seals and carry an spare. Also carry a spare lock washer and birf snap ring. They are cheap and if you need one on the trail, nothing else works!

So re-gear looks like it will be going right after the new year. Going to throw a lockrite in while the shop has the thirds. Excited to see how the ride/performace changes with 5.29's and a locker!

Other than the money to purchase the 80, it is the best money you can spend.

Why the lockrite over the Aussie?

Well, im not sure actually. The shop that is setting up my diffs recommends them.

Secondly, the shop stocks/sells them so i can incorporate the cost into a lump sum, instead of xx dollars for diff work and xx dollars for more money spent on the cruiser.

lockrite and aussie are essentially the same thing. the spring/pin setup is all that's different. i'm with kliers on avoiding the marlin seals also, unless you have a part time conversion. the lack of deflection causes wear on your axles.

for gears, kurt at cruiseroutfitters is awesome too. just ordered up some sierra's for my front to replace the nitros. love your budget build...i did my 4" lift as used pieces here and there on my 3K cruiser, and sold the 2 1/2" lift that was on it when i bought it to fund half of the lift.

Thanks for the input, I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad time with the nitros, I was reading about it over on mud.
