Thanks! I'll get a hold of those guys and see about getting them shipped to me. Billings is a full day drive away and Helena is several hours so hopefully they can UPS them or something.

Glad to hear it'll be on the trail again!

I just got my '99 "Blurple" XJ going again after 5 months of sitting beside the shop.:coffeedrink:

(Blurple-is there a better way to describe the color? Especially when I can't pronounce: Amythis, amethes, amyt......It's BLURPLE! darn it!):snorkel:

We leave out the L, Burple. We also just call it "the Grape" or "the purple monster"

I like blurple. My jeep is purple (for now) but everyone calls it blue even though it is very clearly PURPLE! Hopefully next summer maybe I can jerry rig a paint booth in my garage and I can spray it flat olive drab with flat black armor and bumpers and stuff. I'm gonna call it the StealthXJ.

Then you'll look like everyone else. NOBODY has a burple lifted XJ in LA. A FEW stock ones and we honk and wave if we see each other, but it's rare. It's fun to drive a "rare" vehicle since it was one of the most produced...LOL

Too bad you didn't have your river kayak on top, you could have paddled everybody to shore! You need to be better prepared next time.:sombrero:

I was a little worried about my wife's niece getting swept away because she is only 13 and couldn't weigh an ounce over 90 pounds and the creek was flowing high and fast, so I bear hugged her and lugged her to dry land.

Thanks for the DIY snorkel thread, I'll definitely be using that as a guide sometime. I just can't justify spending $500 on a plastic tube for a commercially manufactured snorkel. I think that the reason I killed my jeep came down to three things: first I should have kept my ego in check and not even driven in there at all, second was bad technique by plowing in too fast and getting ahead of my bow wave, and third was my stupid open K&N intake. Those FIPK kits have no place on a jeep unless you are in the most arid square mile of land in the entire world.

I hear ya! The FIPK kit is great in a dry desert. My TJ still has one, but not for long. Always need to be careful about taking it into mud holes puddles and crossings. I know the one time I'm not it may be costly. Hope to get the TJ snorkel done before winter. So many up grades, so little time! LOL

After just over four months I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I just got back from my first official test drive of my jeep and so far so good. The brakes are not right so I think I need to take them apart and clean up some rust or something in them, and my battery still drains dead when I leave it set for long which means I have a short somewhere that is drawing current, but other than that it is about 97% finished! w0ot! :wings: Even though I only went around the block and never got over 20 mph or so it still feels good to be back in the jeep. Hunting season up here starts in 13 days and I can use my little 2wd rust bucket pickup for that until the snow starts piling up, but then I'm gonna want the XJ to get out into the back country so I can get to the elk. Or maybe I can talk my wife into letting me get a snow mobile.....

Its amazing how much more pep my straight six has over the 4 banger in my pickup, that was kind of fun spinning the tires in the gravel when I left my driveway.
