Like I said the Toyota was an 82. 5 speed manual the older ones had a different 4 spd and were tough
The flaw was inthe gear races there were none so the more you drove it the Aluminum of the gear box would wear and the trans would become well, broken. Toyota would not cover them after 36000 miles these transmissions were changed the next year problem solved.

The jeep I had and I honestly could not remember the trans , was a 77 cj7 golden eagle trim with a 304 v8.

And because I am a terrible typist I spelled landrover wrong but the landrover in question was a discovery series 2

So all it shows is you can't read I can't type but you made a fool of yourself because of that. ____ and as far as my son goes never bring family into it. That was a joke because another poster said I would need a lawyer if the issue didn't get straightened out.

I am not lying not sure what your problem is but take it somewhere else. This is supposed to be a friendly place

Suuuuuurreeee. It has to be true because it's on the Internet right? You know how i can tell you're lying? You called a land cruiser a Land Rover aaaannndddd you couldn't even spell land cruiser correctly. I'm not sure what "the toy never paid for a single one" means. Ifgure? Oh and jeeps never came with a turbo 350. They only had turbo 400s. I'm at a loss at how terrible the whole structure of your response.
Oh and by the way I'm not sure what relevance your son working for a big powerful law firm has to do with anything. Is it for intimidation purposes?

Toyota We design our vehciles to create speed holes after 50k. Oh wait, that's catastrophic rust. They might run, but you will be cracked in half in 2 years.

Don't start on the Landy's either. They are plagued with issues of all kinds. Just like anything else.

Why do people keep buying JK's and expecting reliability?.....

X2. Jeeps and all american made vehicles are garbage. Wasnt it jeep workers that were caught smoking pot and getting drunk on their lunch break? But nothing could be done because of the fat over bloated unions.

70k flawless miles and I drive the ever living crap out of it. I'm extremely disappointed in the performance of the engine/tranny therefore I abuse it to make it do what I want but I can't say it's not reliable. 5k rpms for extended periods are not uncommon for me in the mountains..

Every make and model is going to have turd nuggets but on the whole I'd imagine there are many more happy jk owners than not

I kind of said that in Jest, I have owned 10 different jeeps over the years, my daughter drives a CJ as her daily driver, that is no where near restored, just an old stock CJ-7 that I keep fluids in and fix things when they break. I had a 2005 Rubi unlimited with 170k that never left me anywhere and didn't receive anything but oil changes. That being said, there are a good bit of problems with the JK platform, one of them being the "new" jeepers that own them..they see a bunch of crap hanging on them, and say hey that's cool, add trinkets, and lifts for looks and whine when their 40k vehicle doesent work out like they wanted it to.

When asked " should I get a jeep" I say, if you want something that you don't have to worry about breaking or the front end developing a wobble at some point in its life..no...if that's no issue then be my guest. I have steered several people away from new jeeps the last couple of months, I really didn't want to hear their whining when it didn't work out like they thought. V(these were never owned a jeep before people)

These vehicles are not without their faults, and due to Jeep not caring about fixing them, they continue, but still no where near that other land roving vehicle....

I wouldn't say all that and my comment was in jest, I can think of one non American made overlanding vehicle that's build quality is worse...

Wait, weren't you the one who started this whole thread in all caps lock about how your tranny failed and jeep won't fix it? Now you're saying jeep is the greatest vehicle and had no issue with replacing a failed tranny in your other jeeps.

Crap! Don't tell mt Liberty that! After >128,000 miles, I'd hate for it to get lazy and pick up a bad habit like smoking pot! (How many rice krispy treats can I shove in the intake before it gets too clogged?!:ylsmoke: )

Wow 128000 whole miles? You must be proud :). You obviously missed my point.

The point being that the only things I have had to replace are the clutch and the water pump (removed proactively after finding slack in the pump drive bearing when changing the belt). That doesn't sound like a piece of garbage vehicle! You, Sir, have made what they call a "prejudicial generalization."

pointing out issues

All was try to do was say that all vehicles have issues. I really enjoy my jeep. I had 110,000 miles on with a bunch of offroad ( iWork off road a lot)in there when the transmission starting making noises, The Jeep dealer replaced it free no charge no problem,. It was after that work and after a pro shop had its hands on it that the a transmission line popped off while I was driving on the freeway and drained the fluid out. That is where my problems lies. Frankly i know that the trans in an 08 is weak. and the engine underpowered. But where else can you get full lockers d44 sway bars and so much aftermarket stuff . I paid 30k out the door in 2008. so I am going to start a new thread that basically is list your vehicles and list your issues and problems with them i'll try to make on the lighter side,.

No sir. My point was you trust a vehicle that was assembled by someone who was either high or drunk while they assembled it, and no repercussion came of it. They are still assembling jeeps to this day. And once again, you are correct. The mileage you have on your jeep is a lot of miles for an American made vehicle. That is a feat to be proud of. My prejudicial generalization stems from the fact that once chryco and GM were bailed out. They lost all respect from me. It's a known fact that Japanese vehicles are more reliable all over the world. The fact that Daimler tried to save chryco and Daimler lost money on it. That's why they sold it off. Then chryco was bailed out and fiat took it over. Fiat is not known for building reliable cars. You know what fiat stands for don't you? Fix It Again Tony. ;).

Well jeep was the LAST manufacturer to offer lockers. Mercedes has offered lockers on all Unimogs since day one in 1948. Then in the 70's they offered lockers on the g wagon. Toyota has had lockers available since the 70s. The fj80 had lockers available in the 90s. Mitsubishi had a locker available in the montero in the 90s. Jeep is just now catching up. Better late than never I guess. D44s are not the cats meow when It comes to strength. I guess for a jeep it's an upgrade but compared to other offerings, they are not. Aftermarket support doesn't prove jeeps are super BA. To me that just shows that the factory stuff isn't up to snuff for severe driving.
