Back on topic...

Congrats on the class win and that is a cool video. Are there more from other sections of the race?

I just posted the press release - I didn't write it. . .

There are multiple classes and multiple winners. To say Joe Bacal wins at the Baja 1000 certainly doesn't imply an overall.

Sorry for shooting the messenger.:sombrero:

When it states win the Baja twice it sure does imply that he did. Then to find out he was in a 2 car "race" where you could do one of three things, win, come in second, or DNF...it makes you go "uh!?"

Whoever wrote that press release has some poetic license.

Could you!? That would be dandy!

I am talking about expeditions west posting that Joe won THE Baja 1000. Have some respect for the team that overalled. First time in the race's history that Mexican National team did such a feat.

all things being relative, thanks for making me look friendly and reasonable. i need all the help i can get.

If you win your class in an off road race (particularly the Baja 1000), it's traditionally been considered within bounds PR-wise to claim you "won" the Baja 1000.

What isn't acceptable are statements that I've seen in recent years where teams claim they "won 2nd place" or "won 4th place".

And the worst is the current misleading PR from the Oshkosh M-truck team stating they finished Baja 1000 this year. The error was perpetuated again yesterday on the NBC show. They completed the course but they timed out and therefore did not finish the race.

In the history of the Baja 1000, a 4WD vehicle has taken the overall win only once.

Lexus is sponsoring Joe Bacal and the JTGrey Racing Team for the 2011 SCORE season.
Here's last year's truck in action

Unfortunately, the team failed to finish the San Felipe 250 last weekend. The winner was a Dodge 2500 driven byMatney, Bunn and Fuller.
