Rough mock-up of what it will look like with the one drawer sitting where it will be installed.

It will have two drawers, different sizes, and two cubby-like holes under each drawer( Depicted in the last picture.) The opening on the left will house the bigger the drawer and the pull out table under it.

It's a definite squeeze, but it fits! A little bigger than i originally wanted, but i like the idea of not having 12 random bags and boxes back there. With this, the only other thing I will have will be a cooler on top. I plan on purchasing the Slide-N-Lock from hi-lift for the top.

You know, this got me thinking... I've beeing trying to figure out how to get a nice little subwoofer back there without taking up too much room. Just a single 10" or something like that. Well, I suppose one could make a cargo box with a built in sub. It could use up some of the "wasted space" at the front of the box due to the angle of the rear seatback.

That's what I'm doing. Just finding a reason to change out the subs...

the weight won't matter much at all especially considering the springs you got ( if they are in fact the heavy duty ones) You should know by now those springs are actually meant to be used under extra weight to ride the best. sort of like a dually with heavy duty springs will ride best under some load and kind of hard-bounce when empty.

Your springs will handle a steel replacement rear bumper, etc. as well as all the gear you could dream up.

As for your ladder or rack. If you used rino for grip, I just got some strong exterior grip tape stuff and cut strips to fit on the top rungs of ladders or standing spots on the rack or even body of the car both in my disco and lr3. The lr3 being black helps it disappear though. I have it inside the 2nd door opening on the upper part of the rounded wheel well that you can stand on to reach more places on the rack by placing one foot there and one on the door handle.

Nice looking disco! The rims look great although sometime you might find that higher offset steel rims will allow larger tires if ever desired - as well as slightly wider stance and the steel is a little more durable/less prone to catastrophic failure off road. - I prefer to have 2 sets, the all around wheel/tire set and the trip/play set. It's quick enough to swap them on your own obviously.

lot's of opinions on rims here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=719

the steel ones just look cool though, but that's subjective and trumps all other opinions ;)

So, where did this build end up?

Taking a break as of recent. The drawers ended up being slightly too big for the back with the drawer fronts on. The back door wouldn't close. I forgot to take in the 5/8" thickness of the drawer fronts... Of course! It's been crunch time this past week or so with school but I'll be working on it again soon. I have to figure out just how I'm going to fix it. Stay tuned!

FINISHED!!! GOD!! Ok, I got that out of my system. With a couple of bumps along the road my brother-in-law and i finally finished the the cargo box. The initial design was changed but I like the outcome over all. The pullout, folding table did not make the cut due to not being able to find the proper hinge, also i ran out of money. It may be installed later on at some point but I'll live without it for now.

Now I know it will probably be asked so here are the rough dimensions again:

Height: 18"
Width: 41"
Depth: 29"

With the drawer fronts attached the box was hitting the back door( cough I'm retarded cough) so we cut 3" off the front to make sure it wouldn't happen again. I want to go ahead and state that any problems that came up with the box we're 100% my fault, my brother-in-law is the man and I owe him big time for helping me out.

Ok... Pictures!!

This is the box in the truck without all the gear yet. I know to some it may be way too big/tall/whatever, but it fits my needs perfect.

I completely regret not carpeting the box, but I am glad that i painted it to seal it against any spills that may occur. In the future I'll probably carpet the drawer fronts and that's it.

Majority of this is in my truck at all times with a few exceptions

For the top of the cargo box i glued a non-sliding type of tough rubber flooring to deal with all the abuse that a couple Pelican cases and a cooler might do on a rough road. Works perfect!
