Hitch mounted crane...
I have a sand filter in the back yard that is left over from the demolished above ground pool. It's too big and heavy to manually push up a hill to the driveway and I don't want to pull it and destroy the grass. I start looking online for a hitch mounted crane and find
MaxxHaul 70238 for $204.75 shipped on Amazon, but I don;t want to wait the two days for it to arrive, wanted to get this project done today. Figured I can find a cherry picker or engine hoist on craigslist, yeah, don't judge me, I don't have one yet. Found one for $20, that did not have the hydraulic ram and was an hour and change away. I would have to figure out how to attach it to the truck and rig it to work.
I was about to head out to pick it up when I remembered that I have an Ultimate MX hauler in the garage. Not to get too deep into it but it's the absolute best hitch mounted dirt bike carrier ever made.
So I run out to the trucks and measure the height of the hitch of the 2000 Suburban and this 2011. Go figure the bumper integrated hitch sits higher in the 2011 Suburban 2500 by 2".
I use my dual receiver adapter to add some more height. Pump up the airbags to 75psi and hook up the MX hauler.
Have plenty of room to lift the filter.
Couple canoe straps later, couple pumps on the jack and we are up-up-and -away!
I drove around my yard with this wrecking ball, playing the wrecking ball song as loud as I could, no one heard me. Pretty cool setup for an emergency red-neck hitch mounted crane that worked.
I do want to have something like this on my my 2000 Suburban once I get the winch installed, for both off road shenanigans and cleaning junk off my property and moving big rocks similar to this one around the yard.
