Except for the engine, gearbox and steering box she is all Land Rover. I haven't paid a lot of attention to the year or model Series or Defender the Land Rover parts came from. I just wanted to build the best truck I could.
Drive train:
1970 Ford Mustang 302 (5L) V8 with 1991 Mustang fuel injection.
Borg Warner T-18 gearbox, Series LR transfercase with Ashcroft high ratio kit installed (70:1 low range first, 65 MPH @ 2650 RPM)
Custom Great Basin front and rear propshafts with long slip joints and high angle U joints
Rear axle: Salisbury (Dana 60 built under contract) with ARB, 4.7:1 R&P, hardened 24 spline rear axles & drive flanges
Front axle: range Rover Classic carrier with 24 spline TruTrac, the stronger 4.75:1 R&P, SeriesTrac 24 spline front axles
Front disc brakes, power steering, Kodiak heater, heated windscreens, 3 fuel tanks for a 42 US gallon capacity, built in 15 gallon stainless steel water tank, built in horizontal mount 5 gallon propane tank, Quickair compressor with built in air tank
2 sinks with running water, dual batteries & shore power connection that includes automatic battery recharging, porta pottie, 2 burner stove with broiler, chest refrigerator, lots of storage, built in cot style fold up bunk, 7'8" of head space in back with top erected. There's no place like home
I have owned, cared for and learned to love her during our thirty year relationship, during which she has shown me places I would have otherwise have never seen, had many adventures, taught me how to be mechanical, self reliant and competent. She changed my life and pointed it into another direction.
