Ah, I bet! That's not an issue with the LR4 as you drain the oil from the top and change out the oil filter, no need to access anything under the plate.
Well, they are wide open circuitry in the back. That said, my current ones are mounting on the back side of the bumper. Where these are positioned on the bumper I suspect they would work fine mounted behind the bumper or on the face of the bumper. I may try to fab a rubber gasket to go behind the things out of an old inner tube.
Not sure.

The LR3 Gets a Hair Cut!!
For a long time, I have been a stickler for trying to keep OEM items (like the LR Expedition Roof Rack) all factory stock. Why? I don't know really ... just a quirk.
But I started looking at some others trucks and the front runner racks and really started to like the minimalist look of them. So, I gave the Rover a hair cut.
Here is the truck prior:
Here it is now:
There is lots less wind noise. Much better visibility, and the truck just looks nicer in my opinion.

Haven't looked that closely at mine does it unbolt or was there cutting involved? I have seen others remove the plastic air damn from the front which is pop riveted on and easy enough to remove or reinstall if wanted. I have seen videos where others have done what you did and I stopped it and ran it slow to get a better look at the rack on the LR3 only to find out it was the OEM rack top-less...

New Lighting Added.
Again, I tried to stay true to the old school Camel Trophy look with the old Hella 500 lights.
When I decided to remove the upper section of the roof rack, I wanted something that would stay in keeping with this slimmer look.
Enter BULLDOG LED lightings curved 50" Light Bar.
It was easy and quick to install and will literally turn the land in front of the truck into a lit football stadium!
I also had a Hella Twin Rear light, but change that to a BULLDOG LED 8" bar on the rear.
Why Bulldog LED Lighting? All American Made! (a review is forth coming on these lights).

Drilled out rivets on the plastic upper support risers. (Easy). Hex bolts holding the supports on. Took about an hour. Have help to lift off the truck.

NEW Dixon Bate Added to the front bumper. These things are getting harder to find!
Notice on image above that I added Viking Delrin rollers for the fairlead. The old steel rollers were shot. These came from a fellow EXPO member.

New VIGG Hood Black Out installed.
If you ever do this and you involve your wife, either arrange for a place to stay that night or make sure the guest bedroom is suitable for you. I didn't use any help on this install as I learned my lesson on the last truck
(and my wife and I rarely argue!)
I didn't care to remove the hood underliner and windshield sprayers, so I carefully measured and cut slits for the washer nozzles and then trimmed once installed. This process takes LOTS of soapy water and constantly kept runny wet. top and bottom. Caution: If ever two parts of the adhesive side touch without soapy water ... you are done. You will own a $80 mess that you cannot use.
I don't use the provided squeegee on top of the decal once applied and lined up, rather I use a micro fiber cloth. It works great. It the final squeegee, I use the squeegee with the micro fiber around it. This way if you have a rock chip or flaw in the paint, you are less likely to tear the blackout. (Trust me ... this comes from experience.)
In the end, I used a hair dryer to tighten up the area around the sprayers heads. It turned out great.

New Lucky 8 (BritPart) Canvas Seat Covers in Black.
I had wanted a set of the OEM covers, but decided to give these a try. They are BritPart covers and fit much better than the OEM. They are a very heavy canvas with a rubber back to them which makes them water proof. The only thing I didn't care for is that they had an umbrella decal on them. (Sunbrella made product)
I had some Expedition Portal Member patches which I ironed on over the umbrella decals.
I am extremely happy with these. Now I am trying to source the rear seats from overseas as they are not offered in the States at this time.

I have to say: I am really digging how this truck is performing and serving my needs. Many have asked when am I selling it or getting another truck (I guess I have the sort of reputation
But, I don't plan a change anytime soon.
