Looking at a 4wd van, need some advice

Yeah I don't see the harness anywhere. The list of materials in that PDF doesn't mention a harness but I can't see a place for this to plug in. I think I'm out of luck.

On an unrelated note... I'm looking to finish the panelling inside the van. I'm thinking I might pull it all out and start from scratch. Anyone have a link to a good tutorial for how to start panelling the inside of this van?

Well I've been making slow progress on getting the van tidied...

I removed the ugly rear bench and I have the 2 matching captains seats to get installed.

I bought a scangauge 2 and I want to install it but I haven't for a solid answer on the size of the quigley fuel tank. Still waiting on a reply from quigley on that one.

I got my detailed list of components from quigley though as well as my ford build sheet. Turns out I have 3.55 gears and a limited slip rear axle. Not terribly keen on the gears since I want to go up another tire size or two, but maybe I'll get decent mileage with them. I'm currently on 265/75r16's and I'd like to go to at least 285's. Is there any issues with 315's? Will they even fit in my wheel wells?

And I bought all the fluids I need to change everything.

Rotella T6 synthetic engine oil, Ford Gold coolant, 80w90 for the front axle, 75w140 for the rear axle (with the friction modifier), Mercon ATF for the transmission and transfer case, and new brake fluid. I'll be flushing and replacing all these fluids this weekend.

If it has a slider door. Wider tire's might interfere. If it's barn doors, you could put larger tires and fender flares. Looks pretty good on that rig.

It has barn doors on the side. The 265'a just seem small and low (considering I'm used to riding on 35's on my jeep).

Changed a bunch of fluids today but not all.

Front and rear diffs both got fresh synthetic, transmission and transfer case got Mercon ATF, engine got some rotella t6 synthetic 5w40.

Just have coolant, power steering and brake systems left to flush.

I bought a set of new 285/75R16 BFG at ko2's today... Now I'm looking for a set of rims for them.... Procomp steelies are a cheap option but they're only listed as 2000lb safe working weight. Is that ok or should I be looking at some alloys with a higher rating?

My van will never be near the weight of a fully loaded sportsmobile... It will stay fairly minimalistic inside. And it only has the factory ford steelies on it right now. What's the weight rating on my ford rims? I'd think the Procomp's should be comparable to the factory wheels.

I've never seen weight rating associated with rims. That is not to say that some aren't stronger than others. I would assume that any rim with 8 lug nuts should exceed the weight rating of any E rated tire. The problem with aftermarket rims is that most of them have a shallow back spacing and will stick out wider than a stock rim. IMO that makes a truck look funny and throws more dirt and rocks up on the vehicle. I believe this is done so that a wider tire doesn't rub on the inside front when turned lock to lock. Also it's a one size fits all kind of application unlike OEM wheels that are designed for a specific tire and vehicle. A lot of people remedy this by adding fender flares. I tend to stick with OEM wheels for that reason. Ford has a metric and standard 8 lug so if you buy some used rims double check that they fit.

Yes I realize they all have a weight rating... That wasn't really my question. I was asking WHAT is the weight rating of the factory ford steel rims and how does it compare to the rating of the Procomp's.

But I found my answer here:
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/2002/eservacd.pdf

Page 23 lists the ratings of the various wheel options. I have the 16x7.0 steel rims with 8x6.5 bolt pattern so it shows the rating as 2300lbs for the front and 3045lbs for the rear. Why would it have different rating for front and rear? The rims are all the same.

Either way, it is higher than the procomp rating of 2000lbs so I should probably be looking for some alloys.

I was replying to this post... not you.

Glad you found your answer.

Ah sorry for the confusion. I didn't notice that post... My bad.

I'm not opposed to a slightly wider stance to help with off-camber stability and to possibly allow a tighter turning radius.

Looking now at a set of factory alloys off a F350. I'd need adapters to run them since they are 8x170 but that's ok.

Just waiting to hear back from the seller now.
