I got a quote to repair my bashed in rocker panel from an old Mopar guy near my house... only $375! I think that's a pretty decent price.

Since I got back from my last trip, the Waggy has had a "clunk" when going around harder corners. At the suggestion of the Full Size Jeep Network guys, I checked my track bar. Sure enough, it was loose. I tightened it up and no more clunk!

I have the same dent in my xj. Im not worried about it, it adds character. Also isn't that how you trail rate a older jeep?

^Haha, I guess so! Really, I plan on getting some rock sliders / rocker guards to prevent this in the future.

Also, I cut back my u-bolt ends for more clearance.

Great trip. Too bad for the rocker panel. Trimming the U bolts is definitely a good idea.

Thanks Lecoq! Now I want to go back out and see the how the Waggy does without those rock hangers on there.

Also, the Waggy has been leaking a bit of oil recently:


Again, with the help of FSJNetwork, I found the cause to the loose valve cover fasteners:


I tightened them up and we'll see how much/if any oil still ends up on the garage floor.

Under Shimniok's supervision, I disassembled the hubs today and it looks like no water got in there. However, it looks like it's time for new bearings. For now, we regreased the current bearings, but I'll be buying new ones soon.

^Haha, yeah I'm over protective of my dear Jeep. In a couple of weeks, that dent will be a memory and I'll be focused on getting some frame sliders!

That is one beautiful looking Jeep! I hope you keep it as stock as you can. I would have thought stock looking trucks like that in as good as condition would be getting pretty rare. Great pictures too!

Yeah the plan is to keep it looking like it does now. I'd like to add a hidden winch up front behind the license plate and some very low profile rock sliders to protect the rocker panels but that's about it. Like you said, these things are getting pretty hard to find in decent shape!

Where are you looking for sliders at? I love my FSJ, but I'm about over the pricing of the very few select vendors that specialize in parts. I'm way beyond keeping it OE stock now, thanks as always to PO's, so now just thinking about capable as possible with out going crazy overboard.

I was looking at these Rocky-road sliders. They're $349 for a set. The look really low profile and I couldn't build my own for much cheaper.

The way I see it... it's cheap insurance against body damage.

Oh yea, I like that, and your right the pricing does not seem to out of line for the length it has to go and painted.
