The CrossOver has next gen. SiRF receiver, and works in my house too.

My works in my home too, very strong signal, however one issue that I am having the power button do not seem to work very good, it seems like I have to press and wait for more then 3,4,5 times? untill I get it to start, it does power down on the first try!:(

I've experienced that issue intermittently as well- I think you have to hold the power button down for a good 3-4 seconds.

Thank you, it works each and everytime, hold for 3 seconds and it's done!

I also try it the topo and some near by trails and sure I can not see the trails , but it took me back in some difficult tight trails, it works great, right on the money.

I can't wait to get my Mexico Topo, I hope I get it this week!

Yep, that's the way. I think they did this so you would not accidently turn it on if you have it in a pocket or bag. Much rather wait 3 seconds then find it left on and now the battery is dead.

Proud New Owner!

I've been using a Garmin III for a while now, researching but reluctant to pull the trigger on a new GPSr purchase. Well the trigger was pulled for me thanks to the Holidays and so far I'm pleased. I've put it through the steps both on road and offroad.

Questions:

1- How can I plot out a route on my computer and then transfer it to the Crossover? Do I need MapSend software to do this? Do I need to use an SD card for this?

2- How large of an SD card can I use? Will it take a 4gig or is it limited to 2gig?

I have the Nat Geo Backroads Explore software and Microsoft Streets&Trips.

Thanks
Brian

yes, but you can only store 10 on the device at one time. you can easily transfer them as many as you like to and from an SD card......the device will also take the track you saved it and route you on it in either direction if you like

this map was made in Google Earth with a track saved from my CrossoverGPS:

The GPSBabel looks like it will allow me to use my Nat Geo Backroads Explorer to plan routes on the computer to be transfered to the Crossover via SD card.

Does anyone know if the Crossover can handle an SD card larger than 2gig?

Now that is cool! Thanks for letting me know about the storing thing. Looks like this will be a bday present in March (if I can wait that long!) :D

Ok. I have a question, is there a way to input the waypoints ( latitude...)into the gps and have the unit route me from my base camp to the location?

Latitude...
