I think I recall it saying it only has US and Canada builting. Other areas need to be bought on SD cards. I think someone in this post was going to get the Mexico one but I don't know if he ever posted back up regarding it.

need help entering a trip's worth of GPS points

I am really confused on how to use the Magellan software. I want to input my GPS coordinates that will be the waypoints of my trip.

The Magellan software includes the Magellan POI File Editor, so I tried that. I entered in about 100 GPS points that I want to use as Waypoints. It's very difficult to do so, because the software wants to use digital coordinates, and everything I own is in D/M/S format, so I have to convert every entry to decimal first. Takes forever.

But it's done, I have saved the file, and I copied the file to the onboard memory card I installed.

But I can't seem to access any of my info! How on earth do you plan a trip on this thing? Can you do it via PC software, or do you have to use the screen interface?

Please help, leaving in 24 hours for Utah!

I got mine and so far I really like it. After the firmware update the GUI is much nicer but I was sad to see that nothing changed on the outdoor mode as far ast the GUI.

I found out via many google searches that even though Magellan says their older TOPO software does not work with this unit, its actually will....sort of.

You have to use a card reader and export the data from Magellan Topo3DUSA to the SD card via the option to export for the Meridian line and the Crossover should read this data from the SD card and you'll have 30 meter TOPO maps. I have not yet tested this but its on my to do list.

Has anyone seen the SD card with the US Topo for sale anywhere yet???
I'm curious about this. Isn't topo for the lower 48 pre loaded? Is it an updated version? I'm considering picking one of these up. Between this thread and the GPS issue of OJ, it sounds like a good unit.

It does have basic TOPO maps pre loaded but they are only 90 meter ones. The upgrade version that they still don't offer is suppoesed to be 30 meter so they are much more detailed.

Just an update... I'm finished screwing with the Crossover:ar15: . I'm going to keep it in my rig for the vehicle (route mapping) function, as it's very good at that, but the topos suck and I'm sick of it locking up in topo mode whenever I really need that information RIGHT NOW! I'm thinking of a new Garmin Colorado for the topo functionality. I will NOT buy Magellan again. Spent too long on hold for customer service that didn't really help. Stepping off soapbox now:mixed-smiley-030:.

Did you install the update or still running it out of the box? I have only had mine lock up once so far but I did the update within the first week. We have had it for about 6 months so far.

I agree about the slow customer service hold times.

I did the update. It did help, but not much. If it was just that, I might keep it, but the poor quality topos are a big reason too. If Magellan would come out with the more detailed topos they PROMISED :ar15: more than a year ago, it might change my mind too.

I started having this same exact problem a few months ago, and it seems to be getting worse. I think I'm going to be replacing my Crossover with something new in the near future. It's getting really frustrating trying to keep GPS tracks with the unit locking up and leaving out big gaps in the track.

I did get the Mexico SD card eventually, I placed the order and then they came back as beign on back order, then I got the card, however after some use it would freeze-up! I finally return the SD card for another one which they did not have eventually................................ I got my money back.

They are supposed to get another batch ready soon, but we will see as they always were telling me different stories on the Mexico SD cards.

I was going to go with a Nuvi and 60CSx combo, but I stumbled onto this thread. This Crossover looks promising. The only reservations I have about the purchase is the lock-up and customer service. I guess I can always purchase from Costco and return it if the problem becomes too much of a hassle.

Edit: Ok, Costco doesn't even show this on their website.... :(
