I believe Old North State went to Facebook- which I don't do even being a board member, sorry. Check there, and if no info pm me and I'll get a thread started.

No campfires at MAR.

Thats totaly misinformation. In fact the club site says fire wood will be provided free. They ask that fires be up off the ground in some sort of fire pit. This has been the same rule for @ least the past five years. The point being its not very nice to burn hundreds of holes in our host's field. Some people comply some don't. An old steel wheel is ideal.

That looks like a lot of fun, I wonder if the IIa would make it???
I've driven my Series Rovers all over the eastern half of the US. Unless you're concerned about yours being mechanically sound, it would make it no problem.

I haven't been to MAR in years, work or life invariably gets in the way. This year is no exception. :(

I've sat by a campfire every year I've gone to MAR.

Wander, I drove to MAR twice in a non-OD Series from PA. I would do it again today if I had too. Of course I don't b/c my new truck already has one installed. ;)

I saw on the linked site that the MAR organizers are having a community bonfire in the evenings this year. It was mentioned that many requests for a common gathering point were expressed so they will have this.

Still on the fence, went a few years ago, when I first got the rover, and there was a lot of political BS there. Pretty much had to be in one of the cliques to get spoken to. Only highlight was talking to this attractive girl.... Till I found it she was married.

Maybe I need to get in tighter with the RTE crew, only 15mins from me, bu I have no RTE gear...

Hmmm, never had that problem and always plenty of folks to chat with.
The way I look at it, if someone doesn't want to talk to me because I'm not in their clique, then I have exactly zero interest in anything they have to say.

That was my experience also. Haven't been to the last 3 but went for 4-5 years straight before that. My series truck did fine from Mass to Va., mostly I-95. The traffic around DC was a pain.

There were plenty of camp fires, plenty of beer, lots of mud, good people and a good experience all around. That was when it was at Pearls Pond. Not sure what the latest venue is like now.

If you haven't done it, go. Everyone should do it atleast once.

Tom, you are infinitely better known than I am, especially 4 odd years ago. Driving a ubiquitous white D2 didnt help me much. No CDL and 18s even more so.

Maybe this time around will be different, I've been to another ROAV event which was ok. Definitely had a better time at URE in march with the big event.

Anybody caravaning up on their way through Raleigh?

The property is right next to Pearls Pond so same sort of terrian, soil etc. Heard a rumor that the Adamnson's may allow use of their property along the river to be included in the trails to be used. Hope that works out -loved the Pearls Pond trails like East river trail, the hill climbs etc.

I started this thread to see who from this board might be coming. Please look me up if you do. I'll be in a beat up white 130 crew cab with rusty doors. Presumably it will be filthy. I'm not part of any clique's but will be happy to introduce you around. After attending this event for 15 years I know a few people.

If I get a ride in the 130, that will tip the scales and I will be there.

Wish I could finish the axles before the event, anyone have a front 3rd with 4.10 or 4.11s lying around that they would part with?

LOL. Why anyone would want to ride with me in a 130 with 241k on the clock is a mystery but sure I'll take you for a spin. Falls into the "carefull what you wish for category".
