Hella Rallye 4000 and Slee Harness

IMG_5107.JPG

I have always been a sucker for a set of Rallye 4000s mounted to just about any thing, baja truck or a kitted out expo rig, there is some thing about that classic look. So when it came time to ad some aux lighting to the bull bar I was already sold, but I did some looking around and found that there may be some better lighting options out there, be it price or quality but I just couldn't resist. I already had the Slee upgraded headlight harness so the choice was natural to go with there aux harness also. My harness was installed by the previous owner at some point and did not have the plug in for the aux harness. A call was made to Slee to see if it would still all work out, turns out all I needed extra was a jumper from the headlight to the harness and there aux harness plugs right in. I set it up to operate off the high beams so that I could use them on back roads and kill both the highs and the aux lights at the same time if oncoming traffic was encountered. I also use the oem like switch they offer for a clean look. Sorry its not pitch back in the pics, but they get point across.

Tentless Pics

Going with out the tent for the summer time/during work time. It will be nice to keep the sun off it while it just sits and waits till fall.
Cruising Karr Canyon from Sunspot to Highrolls.

Also did the dizzy o-ring (sorry no pics) and been collecting parts to tune up the cooling system, PHH, rad cap, t-stat, ect. Looks like the PHH has been messed with before since it has two different hose clamps on it, but it dose show some signs of heat damage so it will get replaced with a Samco Sport Silicone one.:sombrero:

I had to do the same thing two different hose clamps because one of them was hard to get to!

Im getting old! :(
Love the pics frontier, with the tent and without!

I'm curious, I'm assuming you don't camp during the summer months? Due to the heat? Love the look regardless, just curious because I'm currently saving for a frontrunner RTT with the stargazer option like your howling moon...

BTW, love the 4000's, I may be biased!!!

Blackwater,

It's due to work, fire season is here so I't tied down to that for the next six months or so. Having the Stargazer is the best part of the tent, so worth it. It helps with ventilation and cooling, plus you can gaze at the stars!:D One hint, the opening in the Frontrunner tent is in the middle and not as big as the two whole panels on the Howling Moon.

Got a little coolant system tune up done this week. Just the usual hoses, cap, t-stat, and silicon PHH. The old PHH didn't look to bad from the outside but tore apart fairly easily when I was pulling it out, so I'm glad I got that one out of the way!:sombrero:

Long time no post: Time for an update!

I was finally able to get some projects done on the Cruiser this weekend;

New Diehard Platinum group 35 and HD battery cables.

The almighty ARB Fridge! And tie downs.
IMG_5195.JPG

Also used the ARB wiring loom to add a Hella plug to the cargo area to power the fridge.

The ARB tie downs work great, easy to use and quick to remove when taking out the fridge. I used US Cargo single airplane track anchors, to secure the tie downs to the deck. These can be removed also so to free up space for other cargo when the fridge is removed.

New Update; All sorts of fun stuff!

IMG_5209.JPG

Nothing like fresh new parts!

Got my cooling system tune up finished a couple of weekends ago, got a new AISIN blue hub fan clutch and modified it by draining out the factory 6K wht CST fluid (not 100% on the factory wht) and refiled it with 30K CST used in R/C car diffs. This made a huge improvement and dropped my water temps by 5* booth in town and on the hwy.

And one of the new clutch installed and ready to go.

Finally got to get out and use the new fridge on a short over night on the mountain. And boy what a difference over a cooler. This changes every thing how you pack food for a trip defiantly a top mod in my book. If you have been holding off on a fridge, go for it you will be stoked!

I always thought a snorkel was over kill for most trucks, but they do look right at home on some trucks. The 80 series being one of them, so after trying to resist temptation for a while now, I cracked and pulled the trigger on the tried and true Safari Snorkel. The quality is top notch and the fitment is perfect. Installing is not hard just a bit tedious and nerve racking cutting a half dozen holes in the side of your perfectly good Land Cruiser.

Holes drilled and painted to prevent rust.

The Safari Snorkel installed and ready for adventure...

Snorkel looks right at home on your 80. Awesome pics on the Furlough Exploration trip report... Now that's the way to spend furlough time. What's next for the cruiser? Heading west anytime?
