That trailer is awe-inspiring. Im going to look at an M416(a1 i think) trailer tomorrow. This is pretty much the idea i want to do except not a new frame. Thanks for helping me decide to go ahead and do it. Ill post pics if i end up buying the trailer tomorrow.

EDIT: Ended up buying the trailer ill be getting sometime this month. They surplus i bought it from is going to sandblast and paint it black for me, and put new brakes, shocks and tires on it. All for 1200. I think i got a good deal.

Just read through the thread. Great build.
I did expect that by the end that the box would have been replaced too.......

The thought had crossed my mind at one point:sombrero: But the box gives it caracter... The lid on the other hand will probably get replaced in the future, me and that lid don't see eye to eye on a lot of issues:mixed-smiley-030:

Look what I got:coffeedrink: Picked up a Norcold MRFT-630 off craigslist. Almost new condition, only used a few times on a boat otherwise has just been sitting in the box. Perfect size for the trailer, got the constant 12v wired up on the YellowTop. Also picked up two Reliance 7gal water jugs. And we can't forget my little helper "Baily" :)

Care to post up your wiring diagram for the fridge power?

Sure, not much to it. I ran a 10awg wire from the yellow top back to my trailer conector, then from the junction box on the trailer up into the box behind the plywood protectors and wired it into a 12v connector so the fridge just plugs in. Up at the battery just put a 15amp inline fuse since my aux fuse block is full. Worked great all weekend up camping, just kicked it over to both batteries and every morning the truck started up no problem. After leaving the trailer at camp to go out exploring I did realize that the trailer has no power while I'm gone so I might just pick up a small motorcyle or lawnmower battery to sit in the trailer and run the fridge when I'm gone, then just tricle charge it when I get home from the trip:)

Yeah - that's what I want to do. I want to mimic AT's power setup, and run 12V power from the truck to a trickle charger & battery in the trailer that the fridge will run off of.

Very sweet build! If you decide to ditch the lid, I may be interested in taking it off your hands. What is the major dislike with it? Weight?

Cheers!

It's pretty beat up, kind of heavy, and wish it was a little taller like an AT lid so I could stack more stuff, but it seals up no water or dust in the box.

Well, I guess that is more than half the battle...sealing things is good! I'm guessing that it is 12Ga. or better thickness from the looks of it. With those cross braces does it flex much?

Cheers!

Some. It looks like who ever built it was a sheet meatal worker because it looks like a very large version of a end cap you would see on a heating duct or something. The cross braces are 3/16" and I believe it is 12g metal. It flexes some at the points where the struts are mounted to but it is a pretty sturdy lid.
