Yes, a good article Joe, thanks for posting that.

I am glad that I purchased exactly what I did. No regrets! I am especially glad I did not buy the faster processor or additional memory. This machine is more than sufficient, power-wise.

I was just wondering if you guys get the Applecare program or not? I have a couple of friends that swear by it, but it is $300+. I am geetting ready to get a new laptop and this thread has been a huge help. :D

If you aren't technical and run into a problem that you can't resolve yourself, or if you are hard on the equipment, it's a life saver. Otherwise it's a waste of $$$.

you are covered i the first 11 months anyway- and you can always get it if you have a issue (apple offers it when you call with an issue, if you need it before the 1 yr is up)

EDIT - Apple Care will not cover normal wear, mishandling or abuse...

I have never needed it and only had two issues in 15 yrs (which Apple fixed) one HD came loose on the G5 during shipment, they replaced the complete machine - and the DVD burner would not recognize the disk in the present macbookpro (known issue with the first gen) Apple fixed it with no questions.

Apple has one of the top CS dept's and they like to take care of their people/users.

I've not bothered with Applecare with my desktops. I've always gotten it with laptops. Never needed it with my Pismo, TiBook or Al 1.0/G4, but my Al 1.25/G4 has had the motherboard replaced under APP (firewire died).

Pasquale and Alvaro... It is all your fault.

I am officially a MAC zealot now. Looking at iPhones, Mac Mini servers, etc.

Pfffft!

Yeah, that pretty much happens to most folks who get a mac... at least you're not alone. My first was the mac mini at work right after it came out- that was all it took. It's just so darn easy to assimilate isn’t it?

I think the correct term is iZealot. :)

Watch out for the balls on those mighty mice - despite being held every night mine now only swings to the left and to the right!

Cheers,
Graham
