Dealer called!!!! Drove over and sat it a pre-production model for a bit, gonna look at it again with the wife later.

Interior space and 'feel' is great. Just like my LR3. It's definitely a bit smaller in the trunk (cmon 130) but the rear seat is great.

Tons of space underneath the rear trunk area where I assume the 3rd row would fold. Perfect for 4x4 accessories. Build quality looks great although the demo I sat in was a low-option P300. Can't wait to see a real one and drive it!

I would change it way before then. I think that’s the main reason the 5.0Land 3.0L petrols have timing chain issues even with updated guides.
Right? It's like people never learn. Even the 4.4, which is considered to be a very strong JLR unit, suffers from timing chain issues if you don't properly maintain it. I'm trying to get all the life I can out of mine with 173k on it, so it gets oil changes every 3k miles.

It's across all brands, they do 10-15k, now 20k+ changes to save a few bucks on the included maintenance at the dealer, which catches up to whomever keeps it past the first few years. I've been shopping for Audi S8s as a hyper-luxo-sport tourer and they've all got turbo issues related to the 15k oil intervals. And when the turbo goes, it takes the $10k+ engine with it.

If you've never read 'car guys vs bean counters' by Bob Lutz, it provides a significantly better insight into the car business than forums will.

I was watching the TFL video where Scott Brady was discussing Land Rover performing extensive testing of this vehicle with 35" tires and minimum modifications. I would love to know if it is capable of 35" with simply a "johnson rod" or software lift. Heck 33" stock no mods would be great to hear as well.

Land Rover continues to expand the Defender range with a new mild-hybrid 3.0-litre unit

Just weeks after a petrol V8 Defender was caught testing near Land Rover’s base at Gaydon, our spy photographer has caught the first six-cylinder diesel test mule.

Although the new shots only show a rear-side angle of the 4x4, the prototype’s number plate reveals the 4x4 uses a mild-hybrid 3.0-litre diesel engine.

The first sighting follows a document leaked last year that revealed Land Rover’s intent to offer a six-pot engine as the sole diesel option for the Defender in the US market. ...

The 90 reminds me a lot of the 2 door Range Rover which to this day is one of my favorite all time vehicles. But the Range Rover had a lot more interior space behind the rear seat! At least with the floating panel delete the rear passengers can see out.82649016_10156859891805267_1475833058773958656_n.jpg
 
My point exactly on line selection; had he stuck to the original line (where he went last) and maintained the momentum, he would have crawled up without issue.

Tire pressures are still entirely too high for those conditions for any vehicle but shows an example of how Super Extended Mode can assist in high center scenario; when he frames it, the Spotter shows him how to get into Super Extend Mode for extra clearance. He moves his line back to the right and completes it with consistent momentum and without issue. NO excuse for the new Defender, a TC locked vehicle has different capability and limitations but comes with experience and I would bet a million bucks that guy would nail it 10 out of 10 times as his experience grows.

Regardless, notice this driver has far better individual vehicle control, no panic, spotter discipline (he listens), and chooses better lines and is able to stick to them for the most part with proper management of his vehicle and patience. NO, he does not just go up without any issue, however, this surely is a far different story than what was originally published and IMO can and should be used to pick away at if the Trolls want to play.

This video is far more representative of a comparison and "capability and limitation" of the new Defender in a rock crawling scenario; not because he just walked right up the hill, but because he did get high centered and there are far more considerations on this vehicle than say.......a lifted D90, short wheel base, with off-road tires would need.

Anyone find a video of them taking the bone stock legacy D110 up the same route yet; I would love to see that if anyone has it. Whomever is talking to the video publisher, ask if they have any video of the bone stock legacy D110 going up the same route and if we can see it and if not; why do not, what is the reason the legacy D110 didn't go further into the trip?
