New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

I like it so far. Just waiting for price and tow capacity for V6 with a manual in a Rubicon package. If I could get the max tow with the Rubicon and manual it will be the perfect dual purpose vehicle for me. My travel trailer is around 6k loaded.
 
Looks awkward with the top on. Also, I notice in the shots where it's towing the old Grand Waggy that it's BIGGER THAN THE GRAND WAGONEER. Yikes.
 
The Gladiator Rubicon has a "high speed off road mode" that allows to you lock only the rear diff and keep the front unlocker. Supposedly a Jeep first?

If it allows that in high range it might be a first from a manufacturer.

The Cruisers that had front and rear lockers engaged rear only first (RR) and then both (FR-RR). 4Runners, Tacomas and FJ Cruiser only ever got rear lockers stock. Either way Toyota wires their factory lockers so you can only engage them in low range, so you have to trick the 4WD ECU or otherwise hack it to get high range lockers.

Not sure about the ZR2, but I thought the lockers were on two switches.

ZR2 has great flexibility with regards to engaging the lockers. There are indeed two switches, and you can even lock the rear in 2WD.

4,500 lb towing for the Rubicon manual.
7,000 lb towing for the Rubicon automatic.

My Tacoma E-Locker works in high-range and in 2WD. I am the 2nd owner, so maybe the previous owner did some wiring trickery???

Pretty sure Fords with e-lockers will work in 2wd. I will check tomorrow.

Yes it's been hacked. In the 1st gen Tacoma (and I think 3rd gen 4Runner, 80 series) it's called the grey wire mod. It's more involved in the 2nd gen so I haven't gone to the trouble yet.
