New NATO fuel cans in Atlanta area

I was in Hodge Army/Navy in Marietta last Thursday and noticed they have new NATO fuel cans with the locking pin for $59.
Not cheap, but if you're in the area and want some, it's a source.

Can you legally fill the nato fuel cans at the gas pump?

Are they legal for gas?

Are they legal for diesel?

You can legally fill them. However, the gubbmint made it illegal to sell them.

They're legal in the whole world except for canada and usa :wings:

I have several, and use them all the time. Gas attendants don't care. Cops won't care either. Unless they catch you using it to burn something down....

red or green = gas
yellow for diesel and kerosene
blue for water

The rest of the world is really living on the edge using those dangerous Nato fuel cans.

And yet I can't walk 5 feet in any direction of a motor pool without seeing one. Seen 'em take blast hits from IEDs (not shrapnel, concussion only) and survive. Also seen them mushroom cloud from a direct hit but what do you expect? All in all I don't see the issue with these... sure is a lot easier than carrying the fuel in my bare hands!

Was there a stamp on the side of the can? There are several NATO-style cans popping up in stores here and there and I'm curious which ones these are. Thanks.

lol I believe maxingout was joking? I do like the bare hands comment though, got a good chuckle when I saw that.

Only downside on this side of the pond is that they're not legal for our retailers to sell due to EPA and child-safety regs. Our fuel canisters must be childproof to prevent small children from hurting themselves. This is a good idea with white-gas stove canisters due to the proliferation of aluminum water bottles. But sux for getting our hands on NATO gas cans. Lucky I got mine before the ban. They're still available from a few sources, but are definately hard to get.

However, they're extra cool because they're unobtainium.

Yeah... I wasn't intending to sound harsh.. I was just poking fun in my own lil way. :)
On a side note/thread steal... How do you tell which O rings/gaskets work with which fuel types? I stumbled across about 10 or 12 in a package being thrown away here and wonder what they are for.?.

how about buying new gaskets for whatever fuel you're using? last I checked the gaskets were something like a buck or two each.

jealous that people throw those things away.

What's the deal with the NATO fuel cans? I have a new 1/4-ton trailer that I'm modifying for camping and am starting to look for fuel and water cans. I want something fairly heavy-duty that doesn't leak and that is easy to use. I don't care much about the guvment's regulations or legality of gas cans. I'm all grown up now and can make my own decisions as to what's safe or not. Any recommendations or comments are appreciated. Thanks!

How many people have even been questioned about what they are putting fuel in? Heck around here the only view a cashier has of me
is through a crappy camera.
