Afternoon all! I live in Grand Junction, CO, AKA: The Junk and currently drive a mildly modded '06 Nissan Xterra Off Road model w/ 6-speed tranny. I just purchased an '83 FJ60!
It's the second 60 I will have owned, the last one had a 350/NV4500 conversion and was a serious problem child. Never again will I do that to a rig!
My Xterra is a great daily driver, but all of the electronic whizbangs are starting to piss me off. I don't like my rigs to smarter than me.

Anyway, I plan on doing a bunch of rehab to the new 60 and a bunch of trail mods. The rig has 170K on it and runs well according to the PO. The sheetmetal needs some love though.
I pick it up tomorrow in Denver and drive it back to The Junk and start the mods.:wings:

Me: I'm BLM Ranger, non-law enforcement, that patrols the non-motorized areas of the Grand Junction Field Office. I get paid to hike, mountain bike and do trail maint.
My dog, Pecos and I fly fish, mountain bike, backcountry ski and seek out hard to get to places. I don't wheel for wheelings sake, just to get the the out of the way gems and trout streams.
I've traveld a fair bit by 4x4 all over Mexico and Guatemala and have ridden my m/c to Tikal and back.
If it fairly dangerous and pisses off my SO I'm probably interested.

I look forward to meeting some of y'all online and in meatspace.

Take it easy~ Gary

Welcome to the crew!

Gonna be a lot of envious wheelers here - you do all day what we'd like to - and get paid to boot!

I do, though it's the BLM's camera and it's got nothing but shots of rehabbed fire rings, litter, bear **** and the occasional cute lady hiker...
I've generally got so much crap in my pack with me that I don't carry my personal camera.

My season is almost over, then I get to play on MY time!:wings:

Welcome to ExPo -

Mentioning a 60 without posting up pics, is like chatting up a hot chick and not getting her phone number. :cow:

Welcome Gary. Sounds like we have some similarities. I too drive an 06....well an 06 Tacoma, and I'm shopping for an older LC (probably a 40). There's one side of me that says I could sell my Tacoma, and use the money to buy both an 80 series and a 40 series LC, and still have some money left over for accessorizing.:smiley_drive: But I do love my Tacoma, so I'm not sure that'll happen. But I am sure I'll add a 40 or a 60 some time soon....

Let's see some pics of that new rig when you get it home!

Thanks for the welcome. I'll get pics of the 60 up tomorrow, hell I haven't even seen it yet!
I've got to rent a car in the morning and drive to Denver to pick it up. Strange that's cheaper to rent a car than a big Uhaul trailer....

Heres a link to the eBay auction...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...E:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&viewitem=&item=190158335746

I grilled the owner on the phone about it's mechanical condition and if it runs as well as the guy says it does I'll be happy.

I miss my 2001 Tacoma pretty bad, I'm embarrassed to say that I regret trading it for the Xterra.... Taco's are the toughest stock rig made today,IMHO, a few minor suspension tweeks and it's a bombproof rig. I'd keep it.

Welcome to ExPo!!! Nice to have you here Gary. And, like you I like to hike around BLM land also. The dowside is that I don't get paid to do it. You lucky bast*@#.

Here it is, sorry for the lousy photo, the light conditions were tough and I suck at photoshop.

The paint is pretty rough and the rearquarter panels need some rust repair (the PO threw in a new set of rear QP's), but it runs great. No problems at all on the drive back to Grand Junction. I'm really surprised at the great shape the original drivetrain is in.
First thing will be a new suspension since the orginal is shot, next will be a 5-speed tranny. After tha it'll be....
