Wow that's nice. Just out of curiousity how much do you currently have into the build? Both materials and time (barring mistakes made)? Just curious what the cost was? Regardless I really like the look of it.

I'm sitting right at $1400 so far. I've still got a ways to go but I only need to spend another $300 ish to get it sleepable with no electrics or anything. I have lost count on how many hours I have into this build. I'm guessing in the 275-300 hour range so far.

You'd never know that by looking at your progress. This has got to be one of my all time favorite Internet build threads. That looks great.

:Wow1:Great build!

Thanks guys :)

I find myself so envious of the skills and work you have put into this build. I have showed this to my wife as an example of what I would like to be towing someday. It fits the bill so nicely. You should make up templates and give trailer builders a run for their money! I know Idaho could use a real nice "Tear" manufacturer.

Your thread has enthralled me from the time I found the Portal, and I will be excited for you when the finished product comes to fruitition. If I had money to start a business, I would put you to work making your trailers. Course then it might not be as fun. :) Thanks for sharing with all of the Portal community!!

Thanks for the compliments :) Yeah building for fun makes it fun. If you "have" to do it i'd bet the fun would disappear, I agree Idaho could use a good small trailer manufacturer. All they sell in the boise area is the T@B and TADA trailers and they are very proud of them. $17k i think the last time I looked...

Amazing Skills Man! :victory:

I love it.

Thanks!!

I'm still trying to figure out how to pay for some epoxy and paint. I might throw some surplus junk on craigslist and eBay and see if i can generate some funds...

Thanks for all the compliments guys :)

I just wanted to drop and an say that your trailer is turning out amazing! I'll bet you are getting anxious to get out on the trails and start camping in it. I was out in mine this weekend and had a great time with it. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Joanne! I am getting very anxious to get it out. Just gotta get some epoxy and paint coming soon...

Not a huge update but some small stuff. I got the holes cut and the hatch wired for the lights, cut down my tail light boxes because I made them too deep the first time. I gotta fire my CAD guy for giving me the wrong drawings when I cut them out :)

Another small update but a momentous occasion. The outside of the hatch is skinned! I had been holding off because I wanted to make sure my latch stuff was functioning correctly. If it got stuck or wouldn't open, I'd have to cut the outside skin to get it back open. Everything works good though...

Really awesome build.

as always!

Thanks guys

I decided to build my off road coupler the last few days. Should be pretty strong. The 3rd axis pivot is a grade 8 bolt, the others are grade 5. I cut some pieces of pipe and turned them down on the lathe along with some UHMW bushings. There is a UHMW washer at the 3rd axis pivot too. The "C"s are made from 4x3x1/4" steel tube. The 3rd axis pivot is 1.25" diameter. I also cross drilled the pivot bolt for a 3/16 roll pin...
