Thats an awesome built in you put in your runner! Nice craftsmanship!!

Thank you! It has served us well.

Is that a plastic spoon in your cast iron pan? How do you keep them from melting?

It is a GSI Outdoors spoon, I believe made of nylon. As long as I don't leave it sitting in a screaming hot pan, it does just fine. I did partially melt the spatula though, so I am now a little more careful. We have also switched over to a GSI non-stick frying pan and wok and ditched the cast iron to save some space.

And we live in bear country!

That is all I camp in is bear country.
Black bears roam Mt. Rainier National Park and the Greenwater area on the way into the park.

Kamp Kitchn

I am a member of the Kamp Kitch Kult.

It's light weight, has a built in burner, and carries and organizes all my stuff.

Thanks to Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters for converting it to run modern propane canisters and also for sourcing the nice custom made padded case for it.

Bringing this back to the top as we're currently doing a little research and want to see some new and fresh ideas!

Overkill, but she's happy..............

I readily admit this kitchen is nothing but guilty pleasure. But it's been a blast to design, build and improve. The reward is we just spent 8 days traveling the back roads and trails of Utah and Colorado and she's already talking about where we go next. Plus I got some great meals. So the kitchen works in more than one way. Much of the kitchen is 1/4" and 3/8" starboard. Its great to work with and cleans up in a flash.

This 2nd shot was taken just south of Hatch, UT [+37° 37' 9.74", -112° 27' 16.61" (37.619373, -112.454615)] on the Sevier River. We could have used a net to pull out the trout. Lacking fishing licenses, we just watched the dogs chase'em.

I took a Swiss military surplus instrument case and bolted a Partner Stove to its base. It is removable with wing nuts but keeps everything tidy and handy and every easy to clean.

I have a front runner utensil set strapped to the lid and I unfold it and hang to the existing case latches when open.

I used straps from awl-mart and rivited them to the case as well as a small mesh pouch from a Nemo Tent accessory.

I put this on a Lifetime grill table and also a snow peak for the weber Q120 grill.

This has been an exceptional setup and the envy of any campground we visit. I also use a griddle plate that straps to the partner stove when in transit.

I always wanted a KANZ however this came in cheaper and the way it stores in my truck has made it ideal as I can stack on top of it easily. The case is also water proof so I can throw it in a raft or on the roof rack if needed. I also like re-using old surplus stuff and giving it a new life.

Of course the ARB Fridge and small Yeti Handle the beer and food duties. The Yeti doubles as a very expensive step stool to reach the ARB as the truck is very high off the ground.

I am ditching the rood top tent however, it is simply not a practical way to camp and takes up MUCH precious roof rack space. A shame since I love the novelty and conversation it creates wherever we go, but alas, it does not make any sense for our needs.

I do quite a bit of mine exploring so we often spend a couple of days at a site before moving on. We like to set up a cooking area so there's room to cook and serve. Weather was a bit tough on this trip so we set up the pop-up and some tarps.

It was cold enough that we set up camp a ways back in the mine. Much warmer, no wind or snow like it was doing outside.

Loren your trailer setup is really looking incredible. Sounds like you are getting some serious use of out it also.

Tell more about this Starboard stuff?

Starboard (link) is a polymer. Its what the boat industry uses. I find odd pieces on eBay that fit my needs. Not cheap, but its completely waterproof, light weight, and rather stain/scratch resistance. Basic wood tools can cut and route it. Youve probable seen cutting boards made from it.

The trailer is working great. Its still needing plenty of improvements, but thats how I like it.

Nothing improves camping more than making the cook's life a tad easier.

Incremental improvement, field test, repeat, repeat.

Well spoken! I love to camp cook and having a nice work area benefits everyone camping with us.

When I take my camping trailer, I get to cook out of this galley:

The side table is the perfect place to roll out biscuits in the morning.

Although my setup is spacious, it comes at the cost of lack of mobility. The true expedition trailers in this thread go places that mine will never be able to. Still, it works for me.
