That looks great adi! I recognize the 18" Compomotive wheels, but what type / size tires do you have on? Does the front license plate flip down to cover the winch and reveal another license plate, like a James Bond movie? :) Would be great to see a side shot of that commercial rear end, they don't sell them here in North America.

Scott, does Land Rover even manufacture a raised air intake for the LH side of the LR4? Not that I'm considering it, I think it would look ridiculous with two snorkels on. I imagine the model in the picture is a diesel and the LH vent is a dummy one, like on my old RRS.

It would be ridiculous.

The only conscionable option would be to create a cross-over pipe to join the two boxes, then have a cable actuated flapper (you could operate it inside the cab) to shut down the LH fresh air intake to the air box. Certainly feasible, but my LR4 is just going to go without.

Cross over pipe unnecessary, there is only one throttle body at the front of the engine. Both air intakes combine between the twin boxes and the single throttle body.

Would that even be necessary?

Imagining if you had two straws in your mouth, with one of them in a glass of water and one not. If you tried to suck up water, would you get any? Or just air.

This requires an experiment.

Or for peace of mind, just carry a "wading plug" that you could block off the LH airbox with when necessary.

spacers?

Hi Scott,
were those terrafirma spacers you used? Curious as I'd also like to add those to the 265 BFG ATs on my lr3.

Scott,

What will you be using to mount items to the K9 Roof Rack, there aren't many accessories available yet? I ask because I am looking to mount a spare on my K9 rack. Yes, not the best place but I am limited with my Jeep Commander.

First post here (straight from South Africa). Great work on that Discovery. Some more/better pictures of the Kaymar bumper will be appreciated.

I have a question regarding the installation of 33" tires.

I have a 2006 LR3. Is installing the 33" tires a matter of lifting the vehicle? Would all of the clearance work still need to be done on an LR3 e.g. cutting the front frame pieces?

I don't really plan on anything in the near future. However, I would like to make some modifications in about a year. I did not do the rod lift because of the discussion of the loss of articulation. I am planning on purchasing the GAP tool because it offers so much versatility (code clearing etc.)

The installation of larger tires became interesting again because I was thinking 33" tires = 1.5" height increase over my current Hankooks. I know the vehicle has to be raised to accommodate them so if it was raised 1.5" or 2" for the tires, there would be additional clearance and a reduction in the articulation. I was just wondering if the taller tires would reduce the loss of articulation effectively by the height increase of the tire.

I am not sure that is how articulation works though. Basically that is a long way to ask if taller tires could restore some of the lost articulation from raising the suspension to the equivalent height. Sorry guys :)
