How come you sold the old van, by the way? Great build thread
One of the long stories of travel life! but, after a trip to Yuma and short ways into Mexico we traveled with some other van owners, we ready liked the idea on two style of van's that other's in the group had and their set ups for a little longer term travel. First was purchasing a GM AWD Van, and when I got back I started looking for one, and I found it on the gov surplus site' low miles and in great shape we started by cleaning it up and it was a dream for I think $2,960. I had started a build thread here on it. BUT! It's harder than that: I have this hobby where for about 40 years I have been able to drive for free in terms of the purchase of vehicles. DW and I looked at our options and when looking at the AWD's selling prices and ours was by far better and lower miles than any we could find on the internet! As human's I try to understand why or what someone will do' in this case AWD's were a hot item; Craigslist Ad is placed and the very first one to come along purchased the van, this in turn gave us a budget of $7,700 to purchase and build our "new Van" to us anyway and start the free program all over again. We looked at our style of traveling and how well the old GMC worked not only on the blacktop but fire roads as well with the winch.
Back to search for that dream van again, but hey we have $7,700 gift in the pocket! We're a little older but we travel hard! and the van needs to be an oasis that will allow us to do theater, concert, beach or just an Urban vacant build site as well as the woods a river or desert. I found the new build a Ford E-350 with the dana 60 axle and 5.4 engine with a youthful 46,000 miles on the clock for $1,911 from my Uncle Sam! and the rest is history, my new build thread is E350 Ford. Stop on over it's a lot better build!
No eye candy like wheels and such, but she is a lady on the road!
