Double Down

One thing to consider is increasing the barn door height. We did this and it makes getting in and out easier. We also had them add a drip channel above the barn doors to move condensation away in the mornings, it was only an additional $30. Another little add on we did was having them install two eyelets on the front and side to attach the 270 awning straps to, which is nice. Also very inexpensive.

I am super happy with the camper all around, only thing I would have liked to get is the solar gland. Even though I don’t see us using it for a while I’m not really looking forward to installing it myself.
The drip channel is a good idea!

Do you have any pics of what that looks like?

Finished up the ceiling insulation and Coroplast panels. Total of 1.5” of rigid foam. Outside bays got a little less taking into account the thickness of the Coroplast on the outside edge. I wanted it to be flush with the bottom of the aluminum. It all turned out decent and no moisture absorbing materials which was the main goal. All easy to clean materials as well

Super simple, just goes right above the barn doors. Haven’t yet had it in wet weather so I can’t comment on the effectiveness yet.

I like these! Do they snap pretty tightly and do you think they’ll stay in place at highway speeds?

Very tightly....even w only three corners on, they dont come lose at highway speeds. Be aware that in cold weather, they take some force to get off the first time

I messed up and will be sending out new ones!

I was so focused on keeping water out, that I forgot to test for actual freezing! Dumb. The original material I used worked for both water and freezing, but then I stupidly switched to a material I thought would have better UV properties, and didn't retest for freezing. The material I landed on said it had a "transitional glass" temp of -11F but this stuff turns rock hard at 0 deg, making them nearly impossible to open.

SO I have redesigned to make them click into place easier, I have found a new material, and will be resending out a couple hundred! I landed on a like material that advertises UV properties as well , that is softer and opens when I put it in the freezer at -3F. Still difficult to open, yes, but unlike the other one it will actually open in these conditions.

@Fergie Ill have new ones for you and your mom in the next week or so.

@dstefan You don't need these anyway.... I think Phoenix is still 1000F. :p

Jay, true, but that’s only 537.778°C and our lows here in Baja Flag have now reached 995°F, so we have that going for us!😖😁. And what’s this ”freezing”thing you mentioned …🤔?

That said, still think they’d be useful on the rear doors for dust control, so I’ll probably order some in the near future

On my camper, the water that comes off the roof from either rain or melting snow runs down the struts and drips on my tailgate when open or on the top of the tailgate when closed. With the water going down the struts, it would never hit the drip channel if I installed them above the barn doors.

Interested to hear your experiences when you get into some weather with this placement of the drip channel.

My plan for this winter is to place these same drip channels on the roof right at the back of the camper with the hope that the water will be diverted to the sides of the camper and not down the struts onto my tailgate.

100% this. I put some 1/2" drip rail on and...well...that was useless! We have full barn doors, and it would just run right into the door/down the inside of it. I then bought an awning gutter to fill the space when our 270 is deployed and now have a dry entrance and exit from the truck so long as the awning is out.

Did some work on my OVRLND camper recently as well. I have been struggling with how to mount and fill my water tank.

I think this is going to work out just fine.

Also took out the fridge slide and mounted my refrigerator up front.
