The tiedowns can be had by a myriad of manufacturers. Mac's custom tiedowns, Coretrax just to name a couple. There are plenty of off brands as well if you search eBay and Amazon.

Couple questions.

1. Where are you getting the aircraft tie down railing.

2. Do you keep the jack without the wheels all the time? Did you do that for a reason? Weight?

I keep a full-sized 3ton jack in my truck too. Wheels still attached though. We also keep a couple of blocks to assist in height where the jack fails.

Macs Tie Downs (VersaTie Track) : http://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/category/VersaTie

There are a lot of after market skids out there also. (Search Harbor Freight 1.5 Ton Skid) Some keeping the wheels, some without :

https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/R1792.html

http://www.c4fabworks.com/Harbor_Freight_Jack_Mount_p/cff-001-001.htm

When I built the skid I set it up to allow the wheel to be attached in the front, but to be honest, got 90% of the way to complete and never finished the project. I've had zero issue sliding the jack around even on concrete so haven't felt the need. I keep a couple of wood blocks in the jeep as well, but someday will built an extension for the cup.

Mine's coming to an end at the moment. I have a permanent bed and improved storage without losing much space. As the storage has improved, I can live with losing a little space.

The bed frame simply slides out.

And then slides back in when not needed.

The kitchen slides out from underneath the unit, as does a table on the other side.

And a barbecue that we custom made sits on the rear for space saving carriage.

Barbecue makes a perfect firepit for sitting around on these cold evening while taking a beer. Obviously you always need something to get those beers open.

The whole set up.

Now looking at a full length roofrack that will accommodate a rear mounted awning and roof tent.

Wow don simon that's a lot of cool factors in one build.

Basil, what is that solid wood on your face boards?
If so, what kind?
It almost looks like walnut...but that'd be $$$$$

Building up for a long arctic trip and tight on space I thought I would give this a go!!
A Regular heavy duty two drawer filing cabinet, and I must say it worked out really great in the back of my JK!!

Today's fettling has seen the introduction of a hinge to provide access to the space between the box and wheel arch, and it worked first time. :)

Everything fits.
Everything works.
Time to disassemble, sand it and finish any rough edges and then treat it before reinstalling and securing it into place. Even though it's removable I'm going to keep it there as boot space is still useable and who knows when I'll want a cup of coffee or a quick siesta.

Then it's off to test it and that could mean popping down to http://www.adventureoverlandshow.net/ for the weekend.

a different platform set up.

hey all,

first time poster, been reading for awhile.

been camping for about 2 years and reading all the overlanding info is addicting...so i've built a very modest but function for my needs set up and wanted to share.

it's for softroading and glamping so far with the frequent trip to the beach or park with my four legged co-pilot.

start with a clean slate in my Honda Element by removing the seats.
