I assume a Dealer accessory. It's cast aluminum and "Pajero" is molded into it. The way it's constructed and mounted, it must be a Mitsubishi piece. I'll get pics of it. It's very handy, but causes a little loss in clearance as you can make out in the above pic (you can see the tubular steel mount.

Here's my 97 LS I bought two months ago. Completely stock as of now but I plan on a 2 inch lift , 33s and a few more goodies soon. The topcenter portion of the hood and the roof have badly burned clearcoat. I plan on doing a " Discovery Camel " paint scheme on the hood to cover the bad paint and probably leave the roof be as I plan on building a roofrack. I'm also trying to decide whether to remove the plastic side moulding (and figure out how to fill the many holes) or paint the moulding black ( which would match the hood well ). The running boards are already off.... This is going to be our family vacation rig and my daily driver. Being new to the offroad world I'm quite excited.

You won't need much to fit 33s. I've got 33x12.50s on stock wheels, and I FINALLY cranked the torsion bars after putting an ARB on the front. I added Old Man Emu coil springs in the back to compensate for the heavy loads I carry. Sits nicely now with zero rubbing in offroad environments. If I were you, I'd bypass the 12.50 width tires and fit a set of 33x10.50 BFGs (AT or MT, either are a good choice). Be sure to get a full size spare since you have a center differential. If you ever blow a tire in 4wd CDL, you'll need to have the same height tires.

Looks good. i dig the red-ish color. A blacked out hood would look nice, be sure to sand off as much of the clear coat as possible, prime then paint. Or, sand off the pealing clear coat (but leave paint in tact) and use black vinyl. I may go that route at some point, but its not a priority.
