Been really happy with the iron man kit. Mine came with new t-bars, rear coils and foamcell shocks... The t-bars are supposedly slightly uprated but i still had to crank the bars to get the height I wanted. The shocks are starting to get soft but it's been 50k miles so i'm not too upset.

What do you think

I am new to expedition portal, and loving all the talk about travel. I have built here in the UK, ( and not to all tastes), this pajero 1992 LWB, overland expedition truck. I love it. And one day it's going to Australia to drive the canning stock route.

When you get to oz you call me, I live in perth, where most likely you would begin from for the canning. haha. and I will join in, this is a wicked rig, and the though actually crossed my mind about a year back to do this to my wagon, but I changed my mind, but after seeing this... my god. stunning work, do it yourself? you must do a build thread on this monster.

Expedition pajero

Hi all, I am still new to the expo, so will try and work my way round it.

Yes I built it all myself, out of 2x2 aluminium box section. It has two hatches either side which on the passenger side is used to house my beloved ARB 47L fridge, and slide out kitchen. And on the other side it has a very large storage draw and room for clothes bags. In the middle of all this there is long but narrow space for 3 camping chairs, sleeping bags and ground tent. Roof flips up and becomes adult sleeping quarters.

Spec list is :

ARB FRIDGE
3 numax 100ah batteries. (2 of these are parallel aux and 1 main)
IBS dual batt system
Terratrip rally computer (just because)
Normal volt meters x 2
2 air compressors, (1 HD For tyres)(1 ARB for rear diff locker)
ARB BULL BAR
Superwhich 9500lbs
Lightforce 240 blitz (not HID)
265/75/16 cooper STT X 6
Black steel modular wheels
Satin black paint
Peddars dampers
OME HD Torsion bars wound to 3" roughly
Rear HD LAND ROVER OME springs 4" lift roughly
Rear axle supports across width to aid strength (I've seen an axle snap before)
LED NAS Land rover spec rear lights
70l water tank with Shurflo pump
2 x spare wheels
100w mono crystalline solar panel on roof
15L hot water tank
New turbo
Rebuilt engine
Front mount intercooler (designed myself with a little help from PACE Products in UK), removed air con rad as can't get gas anymore to re charge system so thought what's the point in keeping it.
Donaldson 10" per filter
Safari snorkel
1500w inverter
Military tow hitch from UK defenders
Various HD towing points
And the BEST BIT - an Overdrive gearbox to reduce the revs on long runs before we get to the off road bit!

I will keep adding photos of the build in the next few days when I get a moment from taking the truck out and about for some action. image.jpg

Some more build pictures of the Expedtion Pajero

here are some more pictures in order as much as possible of the build, took me two years as and when time and money allowed. if it wasn't right i'd wait until it was. When you are building something like this it has to be done right first time. Don't have the opinion of "that'll do", cos it will fail you, if you rush a job where you least expect it!!

We have been to morrocco before the transformation with a group of six other guys, and there was two LR defender owners who rushed getting there trucks ready and parts failed in the Sahara.

Thank you so much, I have tried my hardest to make it a great truck. I think I have managed it. I am going to try and make a build thread in the next few weeks.
