Is that an LT factory rack that it's mounted to? OR is that what they include with the 900 series Z71 package? The 800 series Z71 roof racks are far more substantial, so I'm curious if that is the newer version or did you do some sort of swap?

Recently the forum changed, now you only have 1 minute after posting to edit your post.
I don't care for it, but it may serve a purpose for the site. Raising the overall post count might draw more commercial supporters.
Since the site is free to us and it does cost money to run, commercial supporters look at the site activity as part of the base for their advertising investments.
Now instead of editing, your continued thought or info on a thread has to be a new post.
If it keeps costs down, the site on line, minimizing the operation costs to the site owners by bringing in more commercial supporters,
no complaints. There is a lot of info volunteered by the good people on this site to make a big deal of it.
I will be more thoughtful and thorough in my replies before I hit the "post reply" button.

Nope. That got implemented after a long time member took umbrage and started deleting his old content. You're correct that it's done for commercial purposes. Our work-effort is being appropriated / locked in so we can't remove it.

Hey, dumb question but what does the Z71 package on the GMT-900 Suburban consist of? I know that some of the GMT-900 Suburban 4x4s had a single speed transfer case, I assume the Z71 got the 2 speed? Any other mods (springs/suspension?)

Martin, I had no idea so I just did a tiny bit of research and from the gm pressroom, they say:
"The Z71 Off Road appearance package is available on LT models and includes high-pressure, gas-charged monotube shocks, 18-inch on/off road tires, automatic-locking differential, front recovery hooks, a durable skid plate and high-capacity air cleaner. Large, color-keyed wheel flares, an aggressive front fascia and satin chrome tubular assist steps, and bright chrome front grille insert provide a one-of-a kind appearance."

hope that helps, from what I can recall the shocks are essentially rancho 5000's but I could be mistaken

Rayra,

I seem to see a lot of the LT's having a chrome accented roof rack, I have no idea if they are as sturdy as the Z71 OEM rails. I popped off the front anchor points and slid out my two adjustable crossbars, then I put 12 250# HD zipties to hold it down and to mock it up and see if I could still fit in my office parking garage, well i can fit with 2" of clearance however I have to dodge the clearance bars at the entrance. The zipties are strong, can basically try to rip it off and it moves the whole truck. Got her up to 70mph and its still firm up there. I have devised a simple bolt-washer-rack-washer-nylock nut system to permanently anchor them down but have not had the time to do so. Overall, very happy with the look and being able to finally mount my arb awning so i can set up camp at the beach or on the job in a matter of seconds. After I financially recover, my next job is to get a dual battery system, then run lights (hopefully wirelessly) on the front and rear of the rack, and maybe one on each side. I have a silly idea of casting light all around the truck which I've had since I saw Burt drive his Deuce & 1/2 in Tremors II. :smiley_drive:

AFAIK the GMT800s were the only ones where the Z71 got a unique roof rack. From what I've seen on both the GMT-400 and GMT-900 trucks the Z71s get the same rack as everyone else.
.
EDITED TO ADD: I did see a GMT 800 LTZ Tahoe or Suburban once. Same roof rack as the Z71 except it had chrome accents on it. Very odd looking. I think the LTZ may have only been offered in 2006?
