I have several tents and take the one best suited for conditions expected.
Mountain Hardware 3-man, fast set up and lots of mesh. Vents well but bad in dusty conditions.
Tent-cot oversize, very fast but heavy and bulky. Can get lots of condensation due to small size even tho well vented.
Tent-cot compact, fast and small packed size but cramped inside. Condensation even worse.
Cabelas XPG 4-season 8 x 8, great all-weather tent. Slow and tedious to set up due to pole sleeves and 4 long poles, but once up its bomb proof. I wanted a tent that would work well in desert sand/dust storms and this is it. This tent has quite a lot of mesh vents but all of them can be zipped fully closed to keep out the dust. If Cabelas would make the same tent without the damn pole sleeves it would be perfect.
So I use one of the Tent-cots if I'm doing a trip where we change camps daily. The XPG is great for a base camp especially if storms encountered. The Mountain Hdw is reserved for canoe camping trips due to small packed size and no dust storms likely.
Over the years I have owned dozens of tents and always tried to find one that fits all conditions but finally decided there is no such critter, all though I feel the XPG comes pretty close.
BUT all that said my next tent will be this:
