Post your tents

Just got another tent yesterday. Decided the Turbo-tent was not fitting my needs mainly because of difficult door and window design. After a couple of days in the rain I decided venting and visibility was not good. Fortunately Sportsmans Warehouse allowed me to return it even though the return date was passed.

So for the same price I got a Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow 10x10. I had never considered a canvas tent because of the weight and mildew concerns. Weight is not so important here as the tent and poles are packed separately and weigh around 30 lbs each. Drying and mildew is still a concern but soon I will own a big garage where it can hang-dry after a trip. This model 6010 has four big windows and roof vents for good air circulation and they zip from the inside as all tents should. Also has two doors and lots of hanging storage. Set up for one is quite fast and simple. Only one con so far; the awning poles are not adjustable.

I have four adjustable poles already, but it is still a con that they didn't come with the tent. Should be standard on any tent with a built in awning. They were included with the Turbo-tent.

heres my two tents. one is a eureka apex2 and the other is a copper canyon 10 i think. i usually use the apex for quick overnight trips cause its easy to put up and take down. my cousin was staying in it this trip. the copper canyon is 8x8 that i use for longer stays. nice to have a little more room then. also have my 12x12 easy up for hanging out under. looking to have a rtt by spring

Ace , I have 4 bicycle hook hanging from my garage that I hang my springbar from. Let it dry for a couple of days and get all the trash out b4 repacking. It will be good. Get some cots and air matresses and a good wool blanket, better than sleeping at home!

If looking for a hoist system for lifting a RTT a good source is canoe & kayak suppliers for lifting small boats. Cabelas stocks one. Also Piragis Outfitters, my favorite canoeing outfitter. Or you can just run down to your hardware store and buy some pulleys and cord and rig your own.

A problem with any lift system is that very few garages have doors tall enough to get a rig with RTT through.

After having changed my mind about tents dozens of times (I have quite a collection of tents), I've decided to go back to this configuration:

Made it to Denny Creek Campground (WA) this past weekend. Fourth time out this year - and hoping for some more -- and planning next year already!! Want to make it to some fire lookouts in Idaho or Montana. I really LOVE the truck and getting out camping (which I had not done in about forty years) is a blast!!

Really enjoy this forum and reading about all the adventures!!
