Springbar tents are phenomenal in poor weather. I have been snowed on in a Family Camper (easy 10-14") and stayed perfectly dry in a 4 day downpour in Moab a few years back in a Campsite. The only mold problems I have -ever- heard of have been with those who store their canvas tents wet.

It certainly is a true 4 season tent if deployed properly.

I happened to be in that same camp with Simper in my Campsite a night or two later...

The Springbar functions well as a cold weather tent. I believe about 5-6 years ago a Family Camper (6 man) was used on an Everest climb as their basecamp tent. They reported some pretty stellar performance. I camped with my folks from birth in a Springbar. I gave it away about 6 years ago to a scout troop. It was still a functional tent even after 30 years of use.

Just here...
Springbars are cool. Never really heard of them before. That would make an awesome base camp for long distance camping. Ive got a couple of collapsible Army cots from my dad that could be put into one of the 3 person tents no problem it seems. Great alternative to an RTT. Any pics of the inside and what model you use?

I am in the process of buying a 2008 Hummer H3 Alpha and am looking to upgrade to RTT instead of using this tent. For my family the RTT may be a better choice.

For me it just depends on exactly what my mode of travel is. If I'm on foot and alone I go for he Eureka Backcountry solo tent. But if I'm in my jeep and alone I bring my old school Eureka Timberline 2 person tent so that I can have a little more elbow room. And if I have my wife with me I'm always in the jeep and we bring along this humongous Coleman tent that we can stand up in and it sleeps something like six people, and we use cots in it and everything.
