I think since you have a huge connection with the desert race guys that the FiberwerX fenders would look awesome. The one piece hood may, as the poster above said, be a pain to work on if you have to do repairs in the field by yourself. What is the height of the hood off the ground going to be?
Whew, almost made a huge typo!! I almost typed dessert racing. Then I pictured a couple chefs racing creme brule or cheescake to my table and the idea didn't sound so bad.

Seriously though, the FiberwerX products are a great option.

I think it looks pretty damn sweet, but like mentioned it might be a pain to work on. Having a narrower front end isnt always a bad thing, I know its not tight where you are though...

Never seems hard to find a trail that's overgrown and narrow. I've got plenty of Baja pinstriping on my van because of that.

I already have a slide and tilt mechanism designed in my brain. Once flipped forward, I will have free access to the engine. The lousy photoshop I did does not show the actual width. The front end would not be any wider than the box. I will be able to ditch a bunch of weight off the front end. I am going with a vintage air heat/AC system so that will be even more weight and clutter out of the engine bay. I can then mount my Odyssey starting battery next to the firewall.

Having an overactive brain, I had a brain fart the other night about making the box detachable like a slide out camper. I think that will go into the "what if" file.

We're you thinking a flat bed that it would slide onto, or have rails that each would slide into? I know it was just the "what if" file, but that's where my brain went...haha.

It's been neat to follow your progress and see your amazing photography. Thanks!

The box will be spring mounted to the subframe I built. I could probably design mounts that would detach. All the systems are currently designed to mount to the box, not the frame; water, solar, propane. It would be a self contained box. *Edit, just remembered the house batteries mount to the frame. I would have to find a solution for that.

I am a huge fan of your truck. I think that era of Ford trucks was so well done, that my vote FWIW is to stick with the stock front end ~ Sorry
