Project Mini Hägglund

This is why i make this mounts, to adjust them at no angle. But, i can try tensioning the chains with it if it`s not much out of angle. I also think that at that length of chain a few degrees out of angle don`t hurt. It will just flex a bit...

Btw., bought a small lathe and going to pick it up on monday...

First thing i want to do is machining some dimple dies, so i can put some speedholes in the Hägglund...

I've got some DDies but if I were to make some, I'd get a hydraulic knock out (like the one sold by Harbor Freight) and size them to fit it. Watch this:

Gonna put some shelves and a splash pan on your lathe stand? Looks like you've got a great start on it. That's also a good size lathe to get a lot done and not take up a ton of room in the shop. Good luck with it!

I think I'm going to make the dimple dies the right size for my step drill bit. It cuts really easy... Wie don't have companies like HF, so we can just get the expensive stuff for knockouts...

I got a nice stainless drain pan with the lathe. I'm going to use this on my stand. I'm also going to put some shelves under it, but I'm not sure yet what I'm going to put there. So i'll wait until i know that and then I'm going to install the shelves..

Wow:Wow1:Steinez, that looks like a wicked lathe you bought yourself. Pretty soon you are going to have to expand your shop for all the equipment you have there. Cant wait to see the Hågglund on a test drive with the new tracks...... Cheers, Chilli.:)

I'm serious! My "cat shop wardrobe" is seriously depleted. Let me know where and how much and I'll send $$. I like a size large:)

Thanks!

Watching your progress in your shop makes me really miss my shop in Kelowna. I didn't love my work there, but having 9 acres and a big shop sure was nice. Your press/dimple die maker is great.

Made an attachment for the vise on the saw, because it`s crap and i wasn`t able to cut shorter pieces because it wouldn`t cut them square:

Then i wanted to take off the pulley. First i destroyed all my gear pullers, then i tried to pound it out. After i broke my hammer i thought why use excessive force? Get a bigger hammer, you know? I got my sledge hammer and pounded the **** out of it, but i couldn`t get it off...

After i broke my vise loose and then destroyed it, broke all the grease zerks, and a lot more i got angry and i took the angle grinder and cut everything up. This i how i`ll mount it on the belt sander. On the left will be a sanding disc:

Der Motor ist vielleicht ein bisschen groß, aber der war sehr billig und die Drehzahlen passen perfekt. Einmal 10m/s und einmal 30m/s Bandgeschwindigkeit... :trust:

This may be referred to as the learning curve... As what is learned is quite what didn't work that time, using that technique, on that component to achieve the task.

Only by ruling out what does not work, do we find what does.

You will absolutely, 100% find what does work...
