El Gringo Spectacular!
Shortly after selling the BJ70, which was an honor to own and explore in, I picked up the next saga in my long history of Land Cruisers!
2001 UZJ100
96,000 miles
Factory Navigation & Rear Air Conditioning
Otherwise stock.
This particular rig was purchased by the PO at 8200 miles, and spent its life in the Phoenix, Arizona region, and has been dealer serviced (including the 90K!) since then. Hence, the underside is clean enough to eat off of! :chef:
Why MTN SAR? Well, the one thing I found about the 70 series is that with a 4 year old in a carseat, and my daily "must haves" I would reach maximum capacity pretty quickly when I added a complement of Search & Rescue equipment. Usually, this meant that the passenger seat would be a pile of climb gear, maps and clothing.
Needless to say this just made things more difficult to access when I needed it, and forget about putting two additional passengers in if the need arose.
So, with that in mind, (and my wife's request for something more comfortable on long trips to Baja), I decided on a 100 series Land Cruiser.
My goals: Functional modifications for an everyday driver and seating for four, with the ability to keep my daily equipment stored in the rig, while providing for some increased off-pavement performance for long-distance travel.
First item in the works...de-blingification!
