well, i have to say that i do want black wheels and they're a little black
563_DE

and i prefer the spokes to NOT be flush with the tire - they'd be just crashed into rocks, etc...
looks more like a street rim to me than a rock rim.

Didn't the Rolling Stones say paint it black? Paint them w/ a black or metal gray hammer tone....They'll look a lot better:victory: free is the key and then on to larger tires!

well, i thought about that, but i think even in black they're not what i want - and they only come in 18"...
i'm looking into mopar steel rims now.

and i don't want 18" rims - i'd rather go with 22"s :))))))))

i asked the local dealer here. he has 16/7" steel rims for 180€!!! that's over US$250!!!
they're insane!
and i think the backspacing is similar to stock, so it won't work with bigger tires either...

it's really getting on my nerves. i can't (and don't want to) spend more than 5 US-grand for wheels and tires!

yes, it would be cheaper to get rims in the US, but with customs, etc. it's a bit of a drag + they don't come with the certificate, even if they're the same rims.
i found nice steel rims in the US but can't have 'em here either...

the best bet are the pro comps, which you can get through TÜV if you buy them here (probably also if you buy them in the US, but with much more trouble)

besides, they're not my favorit and almost everybody here has them - wonder why...

Won't this price put you under budget for the pkg? Then run some wheel spacers?

well, i'm not a big fan of wheel spacers. and 180€ for a simple steel rim is too much. i could pay 250 for a rim with winter tire - but hey, then i could almost go for a pro comp wheel.
besides, somebody mentioned that if you run bigger, wider tires 7" wide rims won't be allowed... (but i have to find that out)

minor update:
i found out that this one:
series-7089.jpg

could go through with TÜV, too. that's the one i always wanted.
now i only need to find the right guy to approve it.
if i pay tripple the price it comes with approval but i'm still working on the cheaper side - afterall i don't have a money tree...

well, i got something in the basement, which will get me a bit further with my plans...

just a teaser: i need a couple of other things to make that mod :)

btw: the money tree didn't go through TÜV:violent-smiley-031:

and here is the final pic of the roofrack!!!:victory:
the second spare tire is still missing, though, but i bet you can figure out where it goes :)))

a question, if I may...

Do you find that all the light boxes and other gear on the rooftop put a bit too much drag on the air flow, have you noticed a difference in the fuel efficiency because of that?

Thanks...
