Rango.....1942 Willys MB

I got some new lighting in the garage when I redid the transmission. It helped a lot.
I don't think you can have too much light, but you can have too few outlets to run it :)

I can't wait till I get some more tools and time.....

My "working on ****" garage is a single wide double depth afair. I added 6 lights in pairs down the middle and two mounted at a 45degree angle on the ceiling/wall. I wired each one to existing fixtures so they all come on with just two switches :)

Sad news to report. On May 23I lost my '42 MB in a house fire. Everything is gone except the tub, fenders and grill. I have spent the last year-and-a-half patterning it after yours but with an 8" stretch behind the seat. Are you interested in selling 'Rango sooner than later?

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss.

Everything is for sale for the right price. Honestly however, this would be very difficult for me to part with...

Yeah, that's what I figured. On a positive note, though, because the parts weren't installed in the vehicle, my homeowners insurance covered them. My wife says that at 60 I'm too old to restart from scratch so I need to find something already set up to keep harmony in the home. If you're interested and have an amount in mind email me at bishopdunn@aol.com and let's chat. I wouldn't mind contributing to your Unicorn chasing.

While at Autozone I flipped through Sep 2013 Peterson's 4 Wheel and off road and on page 59 picture 4 is your jeep. I loved seeing your Jeep in person at Easter Jeep Safari!

Thank you very much. It was totally neat to get it in print. There is also a pic in JP magazine along with a carb article I contributed to.

Someone commandeered my Willys this morning....

Good thing I know where she sleeps. You know you have built something pretty cool when the misses WANTS to drive it to the 1st day teachers go back to school....

It was kinda interesting seeing it drive down the road. I am usually always driving it so I don't get to see it moving around much.

Why?
Is the old one tired?

Yup, built in 1969 and put through who knows how much more torture than the 10 years I subjected it too, the old girl started getting a head gasket leak where a lot of water was finding its way into the oil. Not a good situation. It still runs, but I decided to tear down my spare 1967 225 v6 from a friends Jeepster, and get it ready to go in.

The Jeepster engine only had about 70K on it. The bores still looked good so it is just getting a ball-hone, re-ring, new seals, and new bearings on the bottom ends. I am having the heads tanked and rebuilt with hardened seats and valve seals on both stems. The only real hot rod modification is going to be a comp 260 cam kit, all metal timing chain, and Comp valve springs. When I swap the engines I think I will also redo the cooling system with a better radiator, fan, and maybe the new TA performance super fancy water pump. I will be keeping my HEI conversion and autolite/motorcraft 2100 carb conversion too.
