I'm pretty sure when I was looking into it an Arb air locker is not compatible with an lsd 3rd member housing you need an open 3rd housing
If that is the case, you can sent me your LSD and carrier, and I will put them in my rear axel.

I've heard the same thing but don't quote me. I plan on running locked front, LSD rear by next summer.

Don't know if you are planning on buying a set of skid plates for the Tundra or making them but I installed a set of Skid Row plates (3 plates) on my DC earlier this year. Very happy I had them for my last trip (first with my Tundra) through Death Valley. Ended up using them a few times on some of the more rocky sections. :sombrero:

This is absolutely NOT true. I have installed a ARB into my LSD third it was not an issue at all. If anyone has any doubts about this, call ARB Tech.

Pulling the rear diff sure, but if I regear the rear diff I gotta pull the front and ad a locker and gear it as well.... which is considerably more work than just throwing an ARB in the back.

Very true. Ignore me and carry on good sir!

By the way, sweet video.

Ahh jeez after rereading I am putting my foot in my mouth on that mod suggestion. Thanks for setting me straight...

Glad people are enjoying the video. Should have some Tundra footage next time around! Lots of good Tech-Talk on gears above. I was nearly convinced to just throw a rear ARB in and keep the gears stock. However a friend came to me this week saying he was going to order gears from ECGS this month. We might be able to get a slightly reduced rate as there would be three of us. He is going to order a front 7.5" clamshell and rear master install kit. I might follow suite with a front 7.5" Clamshell, 4.56 gears, and ARB locker if the price is right. I didnt want to spend the big $$$$ on gears right now but I might just order the front and then buy the parts for the rear in the new year.

Update

I got under the truck today and am quite certain I have the 3.91 gears. I marked my driveshaft and tire and 3.91 seems like the most realistic gearset given the rotations I observed. I also confirmed I have an LSD with both tires rotating in the same direction when the rear is off the ground.

Did an oil change in preparation for my trip to BC for the Christmas holidays next weekend. Also pulled my interior again and did a couple extra layers of bedliner on the tubbed area just for additional seal.

Yesterday I finally got around to installing some new speakers in the truck. I still want to do a Kicker Hideaway sub at some point but this was a good upgrade. I did 6.5" Alpine Type R speakers front and rear. The front are components with tweeters which I installed in the factory location and the rears are just your regular coax. I had to add a small spacer in the front to clear the window track. Rears were a 15 minute affair... very easy to put in.

Also mocked up the ARB twins. I had to move the ABS module slightly but I will post more photos once the whole thing is installed and I make a bracket to hold the pump:

Looks great, but your compressor is in the way of where your second battery should be! ;)

Lol, not happening! I dont want all the weight from duals. Just going to run a Diehard Platinum Group 31M and one of those little USB car jump packs. Much more compact!

Pretty stoked for this upcoming week. I'm bringing the Tundra back to BC and will be converting my instrument cluster to LED's as well as wrapping all the fake wood grain with 3M "carbon fibre" weave. Also started drafting up the rear platform for when the seats get pulled.

That's more like it...

Watching to see how you like the compressor twins..

Haha yah, pretty excited to hit the Koots for Christmas this year as I missed it last year altogether for work. Sucks there is no snow though!!

Question for all you Tundra guys/gals out there:

I just had a full 4.56 rear setup land on my lap. New 4.56 Nitro Gears, Yukon Master Install kit, and an ARB RD129. All parts are new the guy just sold his Tacoma he had bought them for before he got them installed. He would be selling them to me VERY cheap as well. The only thing I'm debating is that the ARB is the "old style" before they went to a 2 piece design. I feel that for all the work and money that goes into this, I kind of want the security of the 2 piece new-style ARB for strength purposes. Maybe I'm over thinking it.

That 4.10 third I bought had the old ARB. Kurt at CruiserOutfitters explained the differences to me, and I can't remember what they were, but basically said they went to the new style for a reason, which is what I have now.

I know that's not helpful... Haha

I had the rd129 which was an updated version of the rd89. Is there now a newer model than the rd129? If so I never had a problem with mine, I say go for it!
