I'll ask him next time I see him but I know he can do them really fast. Less than an hour. Flat rate..

Just a tip, remove the motor mounts, it's easy to do, and you gain a lot of room. Get good gaskets, piercey and remflex.

Yah I read through your thread Derek. Thanks for that. I'll make sure to use good gaskets. Now I need to figure out what to do behind the headers...

I've already got a Borla catback, just need to fill in the blanks. I'll probably be keeping the cats and some kind of resonator, however the Y-Pipe will need some love. Might even contact escondido and see what he can suggest.

+1 on Keith/DirtyDeeds - I replaced a Magnaflow that previous owner installed with a BAM 16" and I note no drone at cruising speeds, regained some low-end torque. Very nice.

I've got a few ideas brewing right now to keep me busy for a while. Going to be doing a projector retrofit fairly soon as I've got a few sets of FX-R projectors and ballasts lying around. I was thinking of doing a LS460 retrofit similar to my 4Runner but I just don't know if I can justify the $600 price tag for the projectors when I have brand new FX-Rs sitting on my shelf. We'll see....

I also dug up an old relic I had stashed that I was going to put into my 3rd gen. It just so happens that it's going to fit pretty good into the overhead sunglass holder in the Tundra. I'll have to make some minor tweaks but I am really looking forward to having this installed. Inclinometer, temperature, and compass from a JDM Hilux Surf:

I keep checking in here to see what's new.

I've had the itch to replace the 3rd gen and build a lower mileage vehicle how I want. It won't necessarily be very capable offroad, but something to take me into the back country on extended trips. Camper, water tanks, hot water system, confident suspension and tires, etc. and a means of carrying dirt bikes. I'm thinking a 1st gen tundra is the way to go. I only wish I could get a manual...

Need to do some more research yet! Part of that is seeing what you do. haha.

Haha thanks man. Gunna have to learn to fiberglass to fill that gap. Never done it before, hopefully it comes out ok!

I hear yah. I'd love to buy a new orange TRD Pro 4Runner and keep it forever. BUT not at this time... maybe one day.

The Tundra is seriously too good though. Size (but not too big), v8 power, toyota reliability, it's superb. Especially for what you want to accomplish, I don't think there is a better option out there.

Manual? Yah there is a toyota 5 speed that bolts up. I have a friend who grew up in Dubai and he is a Land Cruiser nut, he is importing a cruiser right away and was telling me he could source a 5 speed for my 4.7. Would take some work to fit I'm sure but damn, it would be cool.

I've heard about this transmission. It would be something. Problem is towing with manuals you feel the weight a lot more so maybe it's best to not go manual this time. You are persuading me to get a lot more serious about this!

If you don't mind can you PM me where you got the field unit or whatever its called? Also how much you got it for? I've been eyeballing one of those for a while but I can see it being hard to justify if it has the typical "JDM tax" this type of stuff usually has.

Love all your builds BTW. Your level of OCD is high and actually makes me feel better about how much time I spend in order to "do something correctly" :sombrero:. Hehe
