Sale: Old Home Videos to DVD

Dave

How do I know if my tapes are "DIGITAL Hi8"?

All mine say on them is Sony 8mm Video Cassette, MP120, NTSC8

That tape description is a standard hi8 or 8mm. However, just because the tape wasn't made for digital doesn't mean you can't record to it that way. Only true way of knowing is me popping one in our deck and trying it. If it comes up snow, then it's digital. If you want to fire one out, i can let you know right away.

Can you do this? I need to transfer a Super8 home movie to something digital that I can put on YouTube or elsewhere. It is my in-laws wedding from 1968. They never saw the film - we found it in her uncle's house when we cleaned it out after he died.

I have a projector that I was going to use to show it to them, but the bulb burned out and those DFC bulbs were pretty expensive last time I checked.

Wow! Great service Dave. Making those old tapes into digital DVD's are so awesome. You should post this on the SMB forum. I'm sure those guys will be interested as well.

I'm meeting up with Dave tomorrow to hand over the remainder of my tapes.

These are tapes I haven't looked at in 10 years as I no longer own an 8mm camera. I was looking through the tapes, and it all brought back memories. There is even a tape of my daughters first birthday party, she'll be 15 this year.

Can't wait for Dave to get them on DVD.

Martyn, i'll bring the one transfer i have done already.. hopefully that will hold you over and give you something to watch :D

Glad I saw this just now, as I was thinking of this just yesterday.
I have Sony Hi 8 tapes from the early 90s of my kids on camping trips, around home, ect...that I want on DVD.

Will have to dig them out and get in touch with you later.

WOW, I have a big box full of Hi8 and mini DV tapes. Some of the Hi8's are 15 years old. I will go get a count for you....

Thanks
Louie

I got my DVD's yesterday, and we watched a few of the them last night.

WOW!! watched my daughter's first birthday, and snippets of her daily routine. She's 14 now, and all she could say was "you guys spent so much time playing and taking care of me, do you still love me as much?"

Two DVD's down ten more to go.

Dave, this is one of the best investments I have ever made. If you have old tapes hanging around gathering dust do yourself a favor and get them transferred, you won't regret it.
