Screwing around with a Eurovan!

Man....the wife and I used to love the hill climb event when we were stationed out at Ft Carson. When I e.t.s I went to work for Liberty Toyota in motor city drive, that was when the "Supra" ruled the mountain. I was a big Porsche 911 fan back then used to love to see the 959's come drifting by. Here is an old photo of my daily driver back then and the "wife",not bad for a bunch of young kids!

I have to admit I've been a fan of Porsche design since I was a 7 year old boy. Some days I wish they were not thought of as "High end, show off" type of car company. I don't care who knows I have them, I just love the design and driving them. Wait for the depreciation to take over and you can have some great garage art, driving art at a very reasonable cost.

One of my favorite things it to park my 928S4 outside a downtown coffee shop and watch the people walk by. It attracts little (and older) boys like flys to a bug light. The cool thing about watching a 4-7 year old stop and stare at it is that they have no idea what it is, no idea about "Porsche" or anything anyone wants to think it stands for. They are simply a blank slate of opinion and staring at it from a pure design and aesthetics stand point.

I would have to agree... I once had a 74 911s and it was one of my favorites, 2.7 with quad webers, man I miss that car!

We went to a "cars and coffee" this last Saturday. Tons of really cool, unique and expensive cars! Always fun. We took the van! Which ends up being a constant conversation topic.

It's a sad day when Cole's Eurovan gets more attention than my Porsche turbo.

Minor tinkering today.

Mounted and wired up a continuos duty solenoid today for the house battery. When the key is on, both batteries will charge from the alternator. When the key is off they are kept separate so that the house functions don't drain the starting battery.

Right now there is only one overhead light and a 12v power outlet (x4) for charging phones/ipads/camera batteries/flashlights/etc.

Need to go back when I have some more time and wire the LED overhead light and the other power outlet ports to the house battery. Will probably wire the stereo to it also. Just need to decide what I'm doing with the stereo.

Simple solution.

I've actually got a couple of big fuses I'll wire inline when I upgrade the alternator.

Sorry! Would love to chat! (and see the Guzzi, I have 4 bikes myself:bike_rider.

Next time I'll have to bring something less interesting, like the 928S4, to Cars and Coffee. Then we will be able to chat:coffeedrink:

i have 4 guzzi's, as well as many more bikes (640 adv is up your alley i presume)--i have a sickness. who knows what i will be on or in next month, i usually attend every month, but have missed the 3 previous months

Took th van out for 5 days of camping. Started in Manitou Springs, headed over to Lake Irwin just outside Crested Butte, Down to Telluride for a few days, back through Salida and Buena Vista.

Although 4wd wasn't ever needed the thought did cross my mind that it would be nice to have. So maybe I will have to revisit that project this winter.

Wife really likes the Eurovan. So much so that she opened her mind up to something like a fullsize conversion(Sportsmobile type).

I actually think not having 4wd helped make this trip fun though. I've done so much hardcore 4 wheeling since I was a kid that I think I've been a bit blinded to all the cool places you can go without it. Before, EVERYTHING had to be some sort of 4x4 adventure.

On this trip I came to the top of a hill and decided I probably couldn't make it back up if I went down. So we set up camp and had a blast. If we had 4wd I'm sure I'd of wasted another hour or two of daylight trying to find the "perfect spot"
