This is Curt Hildebrand at SEMA doing an install of his new Mopar JK Long Arm kit. This looks to be one sweet kit!

This kit is not a long arm kit. The arms are in the same mounts as the stock arms. But it is nice to see that Mopar has come out with some control arms. Do you know if they are adjustable?

Just here...
Is it just me, or is it that aside from just a handful new offerings and one-off's, this years SEMA looks like a case of "BNG" on last years goods?

No, it looks to be true. When the runner up in the off road category are little, itty bitty fuel and water tanks that hold, what, a gallon max? its old news. There really isnt anything cool that Ive seen so far. No combination of stuff thats ground breaking or original. Wow, another overpriced Icon. Wow, a stretched out Wrangler. Wow, a Tacoma with a bumper, winch, a couple of surf boards and a shower. Wow, an 80 series with a snorkel. Wow, a long arm kit on a Jeep. Wow....

Only thing cool so far is that someone bothered to restore a Subaru XT (wonder whats powering it).

Agreed. I haven't seen anything really impressive yet. The brute is impressive as is the icon lineup. Both will be out of a normal budget.

I haven't really looked at other "communities" ...such as the car guys...

James....not sure if I am getting too old or if my English is too limited, but I have no clue what BNG means.

That being said, I did feel like there wasn't so much in term of new and exciting products.

But on the other hand, the Overlander party at the house was a huge success...with many interesting vehicles on display

:)

Vegas is defiantly loosing it's flare if house parties are the hit. Funny, most of the BNG urban definitions fit into the Vegas definition (I didn't know either, im only 30) don't feel old unless you are younger than me. What's the motor in the stretched 80? Probably the 4.7 2UZ-FE knowing those guys.

Daystar has some new Fuel and Water canisters. Don't know much about them, just found these posted on another forum.

The setup with the mounting brackets and one can (they each hold 2.5 gallons) is ~$120. Each additional can is ~$65-$70. I say approximately because I'm going from memory. I liked the mounting system but would like to test it in some real world conditions to see how it holds up. Certainly another option for vehicles with limited interior space.

That pretty much sums up the show every year :). I usually find a handful of new products that catch my eye. In the lean years (early 2000s come to mind), I came home unenthused and not sure if I would go back the next year. I would probably rate this year's show in the top 5 that I've attended.

The positive thing that I came away with this year is that the show is growing in size again. The last few years with vast swaths of empty floor space and creatively displayed cars were depressing. This year had a more positive vibe and more people in the aisles again.

Nice to see this option.
I wrote Expedition One more than once and inquired in a thread of theirs over at fjcruiserforums site about their long/skinny cans and mount for the spare tire of the FJ Cruiser.
They never responded, so this looks like a good alternative.
