Seriously Considering a 2006-2007 100 series

I'm curious as to what kind of prices people are seeing on used 200's. I only ask because it seems like a huge jump in price right now to go from a 2007 100-series to a 2008 200-series. Not only are there fewer of them out there, the price went up dramatically between models.

Here in Texas, the only 200's I've seen under $40k were high mileage and/or not in great shape. I have never seen a 200 for under $30k which is the OP's stated budget. He absolutely can find a very nice 2006-2007 for well under $30k with room left over for a bull bar and sliders.

No way is it under $30k. They pretty much start at $40k...I just saw one here in socal for $42k with 63k miles on it at a dealer. Almost pulled the trigger.

As far appearance, I'd say Land Rover has had the upper hand over the years. And this is coming from an LC owner. Agreed, LC's have gotten bland lately. The 200 series being the worst. I'll admit, that particular photo CYK keeps posting looks pretty good. But few people are 3 feet tall and get that view.

I'd like my LR3 body and interior design dropped onto a LC 200 chassis and powertrain ;)

Hmm, how hard could it really be .... ****, might as well put in a 4BT while in there along with portals and CTIS.

When the 80 came out people bemoaned its bulbous looks. When the 100 was released the so called fans called it Camry staid. It's nothing new. It's a simple study in the human psyche/ego. The 200 is too much a highlander. Lol but when they start owning them because I think we all agree there's nothing like a land cruiser, they cheer them on like their own kids.

People lean on the subjective crutch when they start running out of good ideas. :D

Lc 200 is heads and shoulders above anything being discussed here and imho the best made vehicle on the planet today.

The Land Rover products don't even deserve mention in this league. Seriously limited and piss poor reliability.

Post pics of their interiors. It's horribly dated. I came from a Range Rover sport autobiography. Then we are talking but even now, I do not miss it one bit.

Ps here's another only looks good at 3ft angle smh lol

While I agree with you, I have to ask.....Does this thing see the dirt, or was it built for looks?

It's a nice truck, but it has 60 profile tires...

It's fine to be proud of what you own, but there's no need to be dismissive of LR's. No, they're not as reliable as Toyotas, but plenty of people take them to some pretty darn remote locations in very harsh conditions... my guess is more remote and harsh than this truck will ever see. "Dated" interior isn't really high up my list of considerations for an expedition vehicle. YMMV.

I agree but you're talking about land Rovers from a bygone era when they were much simpler.

Surely even the new ones have a place in the world just that having owned two Range Rover sports (2011 and 2013), which is largely the same vehicle as the lr4, just much better looking, I am speaking from direct wallet sapping experience.

06 land cruiser or 06 Land Rover? Not even the beginnings of a debate imo.

13 land cruiser or 13 lr4? Depends who you are. One will continue to build a healthy ecosystem of parts w a myriad of lift options which affords you a litany of tire choices, bumpers, have at it. The latter.... Crickets.

Ps whoever ends up buying my 200 as its second owner will have a crown jewel of an example but don't hold your breath. :D

Anyone that can spring ~$30k for a 100 can extend to ~$40k for a 200. Now, whether you want to or not is a different matter.

I wouldn't call the interior of a LR3 dated. I don't fit in it... Left leg/knee hard on the centre stack but it's not dated as long as you ignore the factory nav system.

Looks are totally subjective. I'm just giving the LR guys the gears. LRs are not all that.

No idea why the there is any hesitation from the OP, there is zero downside with the idea to move from a Defender (any model) to UZJ100. Like going from a Fiat to a Subaru....nolo contendere
